Periodic Maintenance Technician

Job Responsibilities 

Performs periodic preventative maintenance of equipment and troubleshoots common issues 

• Maintains proper scheduling of assigned duties and obtain materials to perform cost effective maintenance and repair activities 

• Ensures proper working condition of all facility safety systems including: emergency lighting, fire extinguishers, eye wash stations, emergency medical equipment, emergency escape equipment, etc. 

• Reports to Maintenance Supervisor items affecting (or potentially affecting) proper and safe operation of equipment 

• Prioritizes assigned maintenance work to properly execute emergency and/or mechanical failure response 

• Develops appropriate plans in conjunction with the Maintenance Planner and contract out jobs as needed 

• Coordinates with Maintenance Supervisor and Maintenance Planner to schedule necessary services 

• Maintains proper documentation of all assigned maintenance policies, procedures and schematics 

• Maintains the proper electronic recordkeeping of maintenance work orders 

• Maintains acceptable log of planned and executed maintenance activities 

• Communicates relevant information with staff and participate in staff meetings 

• Pursues opportunities for professional development 

• Assists with the development and improvement of an effective and efficient maintenance schedule  

• Completes Maintenance Work Orders daily 

• Knowledgeable and capable of performing minor maintenance and repairs including painting, basic carpentry, basic plumbing, etc.  

• Assists with special projects as needed  

• Performs duties related to Hazardous Waste Management 

• Performs other duties as assigned.  

Candidate Qualifications/ Requirements   

• Strong mechanical aptitude 

• 2+ years of experience  

• Previous experience in a maintenance program preferred  

• Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical systems (including relevant equipment and tools) is a plus 

• Ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time; ability to bend, kneel, stoop, and lift or move heavy equipment 

• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and other manuals/documents 

• Ability to work within a team environment and follow instructions from supervisors 

• May be required to work outside of normal working hours 

• Good communication skills 

• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English  

• Self-directed with ability to prioritize projects and multi-task  

• Capable of performing task
