As a department within Student Affairs, the University of North Texas at Dallas Counseling & Wellness Center offers services to all enrolled students. The UNT Dallas Counseling & Wellness Center provides short-term individual counseling, group counseling, wellness programming, crisis intervention, and case management services. Position Overview
The University of North Texas at Dallas invites applications for the position of Assistant Director of Counseling and Wellness. The Assistant Director provides counseling services to assist students in maximizing their potential for personal and academic success. Exhibit a commitment to a developmental model by initiating interventions that promote a healthy campus environment and meet the psychological needs of the university community. The ideal candidate for this position will be knowledgeable of Counseling Services and Wellness programming which assist students in higher education. An employee in this position may supervise fulltime and part-time employees. This position will be an active member of the Student Affairs team and will report to the Director of Counseling and Wellness.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree in counseling, psychology, or social work and license as an LPC/LCSW or other mental health professional license.
- Three years of experience in counseling or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Thorough knowledge of Texas rules and regulations related to functional area (or ability to rapidly assimilate).
- Ability to plan and conceptualize and make sound business decisions.
- Strong presentation skills.

- Strong critical thinking skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations verbally and in writing.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.

Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years experience in counseling, psychology, counseling psychology or social work is preferred.
