The Associate Chief Nursing Officer sets standards and drives operational integration of programs by ensuring alignment of communication to nursing and ensures programs and initiatives align with system goals.

Other Essential Functions:
• Provides visionary leadership and strategic direction for direct patient care activities and nursing education across the organization
• Champions a culture of employee engagement, prioritizing quality, patient safety, fiscal responsibility, and an exceptional patient experience
• Fosters continuous professional development among nursing staff and supports innovative nursing practice
• Establishes and models best practices in nursing, setting high standards for performance and accountability
• Promotes open communication and collaboration among nurses, leadership, and key stakeholders
• Manages organizational relationships in a way that builds and maintains a climate of trust and inspires commitment from others to achieve organization goals.
• Recommend and drives system changes to improve patient care.
• Creates an environment that encourages staff engagement in decision-making
• Addresses and manages conflict in a constructive and productive manner.
• Guides change management efforts, supporting staff through organizational transitions and improvements

Preferred Experience:
• Minimum of six (6) years of progressive experience in clinical, management and leadership roles within hospital operations
• Minimum of eight (8) years of nursing experience
• Minimum of five (5) years of perioperative and/or procedural nursing management

Summary

Responsible for providing leadership, direction, and administration of direct patient care activities, nursing practice, and nursing education and development across the organization. This role drives support and models a culture focused on employee engagement, quality, patient safety, fiscal responsibility, and the overall patient experience.

Essential Functions
• Manage nursing operations, including staffing, budgeting, and resource allocation, ensuring efficiency and quality in care delivery.
• Collaborates with other disciplines to implement programs, policies, and procedures that address how the patient care needs of the patient population served are assessed, met, and evaluated.
• Assures the flow of information and decision-making is bidirectional and horizontal between and among professional nurses at the bedside, the leadership team, and the CNO.
• Implements strategies to improve nursing service functions.
• Lead initiatives to address gaps in compliance and implement corrective action plans as necessary.
• Lead change management efforts, supporting staff during transitions and system-wide improvements.


 

Qualifications

Education

  • Master's Degree in Nursing or related field required
  • Doctorate in Nursing preferred

Licenses and Credentials

  • Registered Nurse [RN - State License] - Generic - HR Only required


Experience

  • Experience in clinical nursing in a hospital or managed are setting 8-10+ years required
  • Experience in a management or leadership role 5-7 years required

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders to drive outcomes.
  • Ability to manage, motivate, and inspire teams to achieve superior results.
