Job Description:

Purpose: The Parts Counter Associate assists customers and technicians in identifying and obtaining the correct heavy-duty and semi-trailer parts for vehicle repairs and maintenance. This role involves managing inventory, processing transactions, and ensuring that the parts counter area is organized and well-stocked. Your expertise supports efficient repair services and enhances customer satisfaction by providing knowledgeable and timely assistance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist all customers in selecting required parts in a friendly, professional, and efficient manner.
• Pull and fill orders from stock.
• Notify manager of out-of-stock parts or shop materials that need immediate attention.
• Locate out-of-stock parts from outside sources and submit an emergency order if necessary.
• Notify the service manager when ordered parts have been received.
• Replenish assigned inventory.
• Ensure all internal requests for parts are billed on repair orders.
• Keep orderly records of all special-order parts.
• Set up orders for daily shipment, delivery, or pick-up.
• Keep front and rear counter areas clean and uncluttered.
• Clean computer terminals and printers.
• Participate in all training programs that are made available.
• Stay current on new products and product updates.
• Maintain a professional appearance.
• Inspect shipments at loading and unloading for damage and quantities daily.
• Pull parts returns and fill out appropriate paperwork.
• Assist in physical inventory.
• Secure building/department at close daily.
• Count all UPS/FedEx deliveries, verify counts, and sign for them daily.
• Create parts price estimates for shop quotes.
• Order parts for jobs that have been approved.
• Provide ETAs for shop parts that are ordered.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED required; an associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.
• Previous experience in automotive or heavy-duty parts, customer service, or retail.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to lift and carry heavy items (up to 50 lbs) and perform physical tasks.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Familiarity with inventory management systems and procedures is a plus.

Work Setting & Conditions:

• Mainly indoors, environmentally controlled
• Regular cleaning required
• Ability to work Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, plus occasionally extended hours as needed

Work Attire:

• Business casual attire, Monday – Thursday, business innovative on Friday (jeans approved)
