Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE:APD), a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases, is seeking an expert Instrumentation and Electrical Technician for its Beaumont, TX facility.
This hourly position primarily supports our facility in Beaumont, Texas, but will also require travel to other sites on an as-needed basis. The role is typically a standard 40-hour work week, with up to 30% travel annually to other facilities.
The Instrumentation and Electrical Technician position is responsible for performing Routine, Non-Routine, Preventative, Corrective, and Major Maintenance throughout the facility on a variety of equipment up to and including Analyzers, Control Valves, PLC’s, Field Instrumentation, Process Monitoring equipment, Facility Maintenance, Electrical Power Distribution Systems, etc.

Responsibilities:
- Familiarity with all equipment in plants supported such as transmitters, switches, analyzers, PLC’s, level control systems, control valves, personnel safety systems, pay meter systems, and others.
- Familiarity with 480 vac/120 vac electrical circuits
- Familiarity with test meters and communicators such as fluke meters, meggers, RTD/TC calibrators, pressure calibrators, and Hart communicators, etc.
- Responsibility for solving problems and working with process controls engineers to maintain distributed control systems.
- Provide Turnaround/Outage/Project support.
- Coordinating instrument and electrical maintenance for the facilities to include contractor selection and supervision.
- Preparing technical reports to provide accurate documentation for equipment.
- Technicians are also responsible for troubleshooting and working with Instrument Engineering Support to maintain distributed control systems. This is a most constantly evolving technical area and requires a high level of technical training.
- Learn plant operations and be able to support plant operations as needed.
- Learn to operate a tractor for moving large containers onsite.
- Work with an HMI to monitor, adjust plant parameters, and preform trend analysis.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma/equivalent
- Proven scholastic credentials and previous work and/or military experience.
- Minimum three years of experience with calibration and solving of industrial plant instrumentation and controls and electrical systems.
- Experience with calibration and troubleshooting of industrial plant instrumentation and controls. Knowledge of PLC and DCS controls is a plus.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to work in a small team environment.
- SAP knowledge is a plus.
- Experience with personal computers
- Experience with Microsoft Word or Excel a plus
- Desire and ability to work in a team environment.
Shift and Physical Requirements:
- Able to work 10-hour rotating shift which include, on-calls, and weekends.
- Ability to support 24/7 operations which may include working extended hours on short notice.
- Work in all weather conditions.
- Able to work within an industrial environment that includes climbing ladders, lifting up to 50 lbs. and working at heights.
