Scientist – In Vitro High-Content Imaging Assay Development and Execution Supporting siRNA Programs

What you will do

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will partner closely with the Genetic Medicine team and cross-functional collaborators, including teams in molecular biology, bioinformatics, therapeutic areas, and automation/engineering, to translate screening data into prioritized siRNA candidates and downstream characterization plans. This role requires independently leading discovery assays, owning automation activities, and driving cross-functional experimental strategy.

You will support Amgen’s siRNA drug discovery and development pipeline, with a primary focus on developing high-throughput, cell-based assays for the quantitative measurement of gene transcription to screen siRNA libraries and identify potential therapeutic candidates.

Key Responsibilities:

· Design, develop, and validate quantitative cell-based transcriptional assays (high-content RNA FISH, qRT-PCR) suitable for HTS/automation.

· Implement assay miniaturization and automation workflows with HTS platforms; collaborate with automation engineers to deliver reproducible, high throughput runs.

· Independently lead multiple screening projects and deliver high quality data, interpret results, and coordinate follow-up validation experiments.

· Proactively participate in siRNA program meetings, communicate results and technical recommendations to Genetic Medicine and therapeutic-area partners, drive decisions for candidate progression.

· Contribute to siRNA delivery, uptake and cellular localization by utilizing high-content Imaging assays and automation platforms.

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree
 

OR
 

Master’s degree and 2 years of In Vitro High-Content Imaging Assay Development experience
 

OR
 

Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of In Vitro High-Content Imaging Assay Development experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent cell culture techniques
  • Experience with siRNA transfection and RNA FISH assays
  • High-content imaging assay development using Opera Phenix
  • Familiarity with lab automation instruments
  • Strong critical thinking and troubleshooting skills

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
