Job Summary
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of plant facilities and equipment. The Maintenance Manager manages the implementation of the plant's Maintenance Program and identifies those items which need improvement or additional work. The Maintenance Manager works with the plant operating staff to ensure plant facilities and equipment are maintained in a safe and efficient operating condition at all times.
The Maintenance Manager operates from established and well-known procedures, performing duties independently with only general direction given. Decisions are made within policy constraints. The Maintenance Manager encounters new and varied work situations, involving a high degree of complexity.
The Maintenance Manager must ensure that all work is performed in a safe manner resulting in no accidents, and in compliance with all environmental permits at all times. The Maintenance Manager must effectively communicate information to the Plant Manager, fellow Managers, and subordinate plant personnel, relative to the condition of the plant equipment and performance and provide suggestions for plant improvement. The Maintenance Manager must ensure duties are performed in such a way to result in an optimum cost-benefit ratio.
Job Functions
• Oversee the activities of maintenance personnel in performing maintenance and repair activities.
• Implement the plant's preventive and predictive maintenance program, including equipment failure records, and provide trend information to the Plant Manager.
• Provide task lists and schedules for plant maintenance and contractor personnel for normal operating periods, planned outage periods, and forced outage situations.
• Maintain the plant's Maintenance Manual and ensure that vendor maintenance and repair manuals are properly filed and kept up to date.
• Manages Building & Grounds maintenance activities and improvements.
• Oversee the issuance of purchase requisitions, and purchase orders. Responsible for following all procedures for Procurement in CMMS
• Responsible for monthly/annual inventory reporting according to CMMS.
• Sustain the morale and motivation of maintenance personnel and handle employee grievances as they arise.
• Assist with the location, screening and hiring of maintenance personnel.
• All employees have the responsibility to both the customer and their co-workers to do the job right the first time and to ensure the customer's needs are being met.
• Complete other tasks as requested by the Plant Manager.
• The Maintenance Manager supervises subordinate maintenance mechanics, lC&E technicians, and the maintenance planner.
• The Maintenance Manager cooperates with the Office Manager, Operations Manager and Compliance Coordinator as needed in the daily operation of the plant.
Education and Experience – An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.
• Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or equivalent required.
• 5+ years of power plant or similar experience required.
• Power generation or continuous manufacturing experience is highly desired.
• Strong electrical and microprocessor-based control background, strong rotating equipment experience and an ability to use personal computer based preventive and predictive maintenance tools desired.
• At least 2 years of experience supervising technical and maintenance personnel required.
• Strong leadership and motivational skills required.
