Department Overview:
Our mission at the Office of Student Transition & Family Engagement (OSTFE) is to understand and improve students' first year at UW-Madison. We are the campus leader and primary resource on the subject of student transition to the campus community. OSTFE supports students in self-reflection and active learning inside and outside of the classroom as they create the foundation for their Wisconsin Experience. We facilitate this process through a long-term inclusive strategy of intentional programming, on-going services, communication, and collaboration with faculty and staff.Anticipated Start Date:

Summer: interns can anticipate working 6-10 hours per week.Spring and Fall semesters: Interns can anticipate working 4-6 hours per week on intern projects and in meetings.
Please note, this hourly range does not include time spent teaching the course if you are serving as a Fellow in addition to the Intern role. If you are serving as both an intern and a Fellow, you can anticipate working 8-12 hours per week total. Hours may vary depending on the time of year and may surpass hourly ranges at times, such as new Fellow recruitment and interviewing, training, etc. Interns will need to work in person/on site for part of their role, whether that be in the office or helping at SOAR. There is flexibility to do some hours remotely.

Sophmore status or higherPrevious Undergraduate Teaching Fellow experience
3.0 GPA or higher. If your GPA is below 3.0, please include a statement of explanation in your application.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Experience co-instructing a course for first-year students (e.g. CP 125, ILS 138, ILS 157)
Experience working with first-year or transfer students in a curricular or co-curricular setting
Familiarity with the Office of Student Transition & Family Engagement and the Wisconsin Experience Seminar
Exceptional oral and written communication skills
Willingness to consider new ideas or approaches to complete tasks
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
