About the role:

Classy's Product Technology team is hiring a Lead Software Engineer to contribute to the development of the Classy Live event management platform, which powers virtual, hybrid and in-person events by providing tools around live streaming, auctions and taking payment. The ideal candidate will combine solid engineering expertise with product aptitude, is driven by exciting technical challenges that come with scale, and thrives in a fast-paced, iterative, and collaborative environment. What you’ll accomplish:

  • Analyze, design, and develop software that delivers clean, maintainable code within a large, complex, and established code base.
  • Contribute to the vision, planning and execution of migrating from a monolith to a microservice based evolution of the technical infrastructure
  • Learn and grow your skills by working collaboratively with experienced and engaged developers to design new features and re-architect existing ones.
  • Work as part of a Scrum team and develop web-based software solutions.
  • Mentor engineers to improve their skills and use best software development practices and processes.
  • Collaborate with the architecture team and other product teams to improve processes and practices

What you bring (Required):

  • A deep sense of quality, and sharp engineering skills with strong computer science fundamentals.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 6+ years of professional software development experience with server-side, web-based technologies (full stack preferred, most be strong in back-end technologies)
  • Excellent understanding of distributed software architecture with experience debugging distributed systems with high data loads.
  • High-level proficiency with Javascript ES6, NestJS, Node.js, PHP, React and/or Angular(.js), HTML/CSS.
  • Familiarity with GraphQL, Elasticsearch, Docker, AWS (EC2, ECS, Lambda, SNS).
  • Ability to understand product requirements and translate them into technical subtasks.
  • Experience with Scrum/Agile development methodologies.
  • Proficient with microservice architecture with a deep understanding of strengths and pitfalls
  • Proficiency in schema design in relational or NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB).
  • Deep experience with code versioning tools (GIT/Bitbucket).

  • Experience with refactoring complex architecture to microservice patterns
  • Experience with scaling systems
  • Experience with creating technical diagrams to communicate ideas
  • Experience with simultaneously managing multiple web application frameworks and/or migrating from one framework to another.
