Integrated Construction Manager - Solar GIS VDC

Our Solar VDC Team is seeking a Geographic Information System (GIS) Manager with strong leadership, vision, functional knowledge, and background in Esri’s ArcGIS Geospatial Platform. This role will be critical in continuing to firm up and establish standards for a scalable Enterprise Geospatial Platform for our Solar teams, as well as integration with other operating groups including Civil, Battery Storage, Wind, Power, and Engineering Services.
This role will report to the Director of Solar VDC and will have 5 direct reports. The direct reports are composed of regional-based Solar GIS Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and a headquarters-based GIS junior developer. Visa Sponsorships are not offered for this position.
Responsibilities:
Desired Technical / GIS Skills & Experience:
• Minimum 6+ years experience with Esri Platform deployments
• Active and working knowledge of Survey123, Experience Builder, QuickCapture, FieldMaps, ArcGIS Pro, Citrix, and Portal environments.
• Experience creating python and other scripting methods to help automate GIS workflows from development to operations (DevOps)
• Experience with Solar construction and/or other horizontal businesses such as Wind, Battery Storage, Civil, or other construction GIS experience
• Knowledge of construction field workflows and how GIS can help support. For example workflows related to permitting, material distribution, quality, safety, production tracking, and reporting.
• Experience partnering with server host vendors and GIS system administrators in order to ensure up time and health of the system
• Ensures high levels of ongoing system and application performance in production environments
• Experience in understanding difference and uses between staging and production environments
• Understanding of how to best leverage both Enterprise and ArcGIS Online systems
• Strong understanding and holistic knowledge of overall GIS best practices and functionality
• Ensures technology processes are conducted in line with standards and company policies
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
• Geospatial Business Processes, Applications and Data Operations experience
• Experience creating a GIS vision and defining roadmaps with accompanying standards documentation to finalize implementation strategy
• Experience in attracting, developing, coaching, and retaining a high-performing and diverse team
• Background and experience creating effective dashboards and reports for senior leadership to digest and leverage GIS data in an easy-to-understand manner
• Able to distill important key data points to help demonstrate value to the leadership team
• Previous background in creating metrics to prove and show Return on Investment (ROI) of GIS tools
• Excellent communication skills and strong emotional intelligence (EQ)
• Has an attitude of humility and patience given many team members will not have previous GIS experience that you will interact with
• Able to decipher a business request into meaningful capabilities and processes
• Successfully demonstrated leadership and influential skills in a complex organization
• Adept at creative solution development, driven to innovate and automate
• Supports and fosters innovative technologies to deliver new ideas that enable business transformation
• Used to an agile, fast-paced, dynamic project environments
• Previously managed teams responsible for GIS lifecycle management and system implementation
• Works with IT leaders and corporate GIS leaders to help support overall GIS strategy
• Able to effectively partner with GIS third party vendors to develop tools and manage their delivery
• Bachelor’s degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Construction Management, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology (IT), Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar degree.
• Experience: 6-9+ years in GIS Leadership (people leader) and GIS Analyst (SME) roles
• Supervisory/Management Experience with a direct report: 4-6+ years
Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s Degree
• Experience attending Esri User Conference, Developers Conference, and other events
• Experience presenting at industry-related conferences
