General Scope of Responsibilities
The Packaging Associate is responsible for supplying all necessary packaging materials (including spools) to production lines, performing accurate weighing and labeling of finished goods, and delivering them to the appropriate warehouse locations. This role supports both the Production and Shipping & Receiving teams and plays a key role in ensuring products are packaged safely, accurately, and in alignment with company standards.
Shift Hours: This position is available on our 1A Day Shift which runs from Sunday – Tuesday, 7:00am – 7:00pm, and Wednesday, 7:00am – 1:00pm
Starting pay: $24.25 per hour
Specific Responsibilities
• Become forklift certified and maintain compliance for safe handling and transport of finished goods
• Oversee the boxing of finished goods, including accurate data entry and setting up production lines with required packaging
• Perform visual inspections of packaged products to verify labeling accuracy and overall quality
• Set up and fill racks for doff changes
• Follow all AstenJohnson boxing procedures and protocols
• Remove trash and used spool boxes from the shop floor as needed
• Store incoming boxing materials, rotate stock, and ensure packaging supplies are readily available
• Maintain a clean and organized work area following the 5S system
• Support inventory counts and audits as necessary
• Follow all safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Collaborate closely with both Production and Shipping & Receiving departments
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors

• Strong number sense and comfort with sequential tasks
• 3+ years of forklift experience preferred
• Basic math and algebra skills
Desired Education/Experience
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required
• 1+ years of manufacturing experience preferred
• Forklift certification
• Experience or certification in Lean Sigma concepts preferred
Working Conditions
This role requires bending, stooping, and lifting up to 55 pounds daily. Standing and walking for the majority (10+ hours) of each shift is required. Associates will be exposed to noise, warm temperatures, and industrial equipment and must wear all required safety equipment.
