JOB TITLE: MAINTENANCE (2)
JOB SUMMARY: This general maintenance worker is responsible for the physical and mechanical maintenance of the district's buildings, equipment, and grounds. He/she is responsible for implementing a preventative maintenance program.
MINIMAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have training and successful work experience in the following areas�ventilation, plumbing, electrical, boilers, heating and/or air conditioning, alarm systems, locksmith, carpet laying, masonry skills and carpentry.
- Proof of chauffeur's license within 30 days of job award.
- Ability to drive all maintenance vehicles, including trucks, tractors, and snowplow.
- Must have successful maintenance experience in a large commercial or school district setting.
- Ability to solve problems and finish an assigned task when working alone.
- Ability to prioritize and follow through on assigned work orders in a timely manner.
- Ability to read and understand blue prints.
- Ability to work a flexible weekly and hourly schedule including additional hours when necessary.
- Good writing, filing, and record keeping skills.
- Possess good leadership ability.
- Demonstrate good self-discipline and work habits.
- Ability to work under pressure and withstand physical stress
- Ability to work with people of all age levels.
- Good prior work record regarding attendance, punctuality, dependability, positive attitude, and cooperation with other personnel.
- Continued education in the field of maintenance is required as evidenced by completion of at least one of the following certifications within 12 months of the job award�low pressure boiler; refrigeration/recovery license.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (May include but not be limited to):
- Answers to the director of support services.
- Responsible for building maintenance as assigned by the director of support services.
- Responsible for the operation, care, and general maintenance of the heating, ventilating, lighting, and plumbing systems with the district buildings as assigned.
- Responsible for the care, maintenance, and repairs of the buildings and its equipment as assigned.
- Assist in snow removal as assigned.
- Responsible to the director of support services for 24-hour care and maintenance of the school plant. Ability to work whatever hours are necessary to perform the required duties.
- Make recommendations for the purchase of supplies and equipment needed in the care and maintenance of the school plant.
- Supervise and assist in the moving and setting of furniture and equipment for school and community activities.
- Perform regular preventative maintenance as scheduled and directed by the director of support services.
- Ability to independently maintain a preventative maintenance program.
- Oversee the maintenance and care of the auditorium and swimming pool areas.
- Responsible for securing buildings when last to leave.
- Familiar with federal, state, and county codes, rules, regulations, and laws dealing with ADA, construction, and safety recommendations.
- Perform other duties as directed by the director of support services.
