About the role

 

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Review blueprints, specifications, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
  • Perform quantity take-offs and pricing for fire sprinkler, fire alarm, and suppression systems.
  • Evaluate subcontractor and vendor quotes to ensure accuracy and competitiveness.
  • Prepare and submit bid proposals in a timely manner.
  • Conduct site visits and pre-bid meetings to assess existing fire protection systems and determine scope of work.
  • Ensure all estimates comply with NFPA codes, local regulations, and client specifications.
  • Works with the inspection and testing group for deficiency, repair and other pricing estimate needs.
  • Responsible for the overall profitability of their projects. Ensure proper timelines and all requirements are met for all projects. Ensuring billing, change orders, collections, etc. are completed in a timely manner for each project. Keeps the management staff up to date on all project issues.
  • Reviews job cost, job status, manpower and change order reports to provide analysis monthly. Conducts regular/monthly job cost reviews to accurately reflect project profitability and status of all project issues.
  • Conducts appropriate preplanning when assigned a new job such as reviewing all plans and specs, identifying pre-fab opportunities, understanding scope of work. Other items to preplan would be material take off, size of crew and tools and equipment needed.
  • Communicates and troubleshoots with project superintendents, construction managers and General Contractors. Also, communicate effectively with all project managers, administrative assistants and other departments through meetings, memos, e-mails, etc.
  • Coordinates proper manpower and equipment for each job.
  • Oversee the buyout process, job-closeouts and project change orders for all projects.
  • Conducts/attends weekly job-site visits and job meetings.
  • Ensure proper job setup, contract review, estimated costs and schedule of values are done in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Generates project manager reports and attends project management meetings as appropriate.
  • Progress billings, change orders, collections, etc. to ensure timely completion.

  • Ensures all project paperwork is processed accurately and timely in accordance with company procedures.
  • Sets up and updates Operation and Maintenance Manuals as needed.
  • Keep the management staff up to date on all project issues.
  • All other duties as assigned.

  

Qualifications and Experience:

 

·       Experience/Qualifications Required:

o   Minimum 5 years commercial Fire Sprinkler field experience.

o   1 year of prior project management experience or field superintendent experience.

  

·       Job Skills:     

o   Ability to read and interpret blueprints.

o   Knowledge of general fire sprinkler installation.

o   General knowledge of NFPA and Building Codes

o   Good math ability.

o   Good basic computer skills.

o   Detail oriented.

o   Strong organizational skills.

o   General accounting skills.

o   Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

 

·     �� Education:

o   Minimum of High School Diploma or GED equivalent.  Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or equivalent is preferred.

o   Fire Sprinkler/Standpipe license.

 

·       Physical Requirements:

o   Capable of climbing off/on equipment and ladders.

o   Able to walk job sites.

 

·       Special Requirements:

o   Valid Driver’s License

o   OSHA 30
