Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivated, career and customer oriented Senior SolarWinds Engineer to join our team in Colorado Springs, CO.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Designing, implementing, maintaining, and configuration of SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor (NPM), Server and Application Monitor (SAM), and IBM Tivoli Monitoring (ITM)
  • Continuously automate and tune monitors to limit false alarms.
  • Able to install, configure and administer SolarWinds ORION components to include Network Performance Monitor (NPM) and Server and Application Monitor (SAM)
  • Able to design and implement a highly available continuous monitoring platform to be utilized by a 24x7 operations desk
  • Experience configuring monitors using SNMP, SSH, WinRM, WMI, JMX and other technologies.
  • Experience configuring collection of syslog messages from a variety of devices and storing and forwarding as required by local policies.
  • Familiar with AppInsight for Microsoft Exchange and SQL Server
  • Familiar with configuration and administration NetFlow Traffic Analyzer
  • Experience monitoring a variety of end devices to include routers, switches, firewalls, Windows servers, Linux servers and UNIX servers.
  • Experience creating and managing custom views to provide a Common Operational Picture (COP)
  • Experience configuring custom reports upon request from local customers.
  • Knowledge of database requirements and configuration of SolarWinds ORION applications
  • Able to share knowledge of monitoring best practices with system owners and system administrators to enhance overall monitoring and alerting posture.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in design, implementation, administration, configuration and securing the SolarWinds suite of products.
  • Perform configuration, tuning, and troubleshooting SolarWinds and related network management system tools.
  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to work on individual tasks, as well as team-oriented tasks.
  • Ability to prioritize competing priorities.
  • Ability to work under a cross-matrix management structure.
  • Required to be on-call 24x7x365 and respond in a timely manner.
  • Strong Communications skills to relate technical details to non-technical leaders.
  • Self-starter with ability to work on individual tasks, as well as team-oriented tasks.
  • Ability to plan and execute system and software installations upgrades and changes across the organization.
  • Ability to write administration and user based operating procedures, with assistance from a technical writer.
  • Ability to prioritize competing priorities.
  • Ability to work under a cross-matrix management structure.
  • Strong communications skills to relate technical details to non-technical leaders and SolarWinds users.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SolarWinds Certified Professional (SCP)
  • Experience troubleshooting network issues.
  • Other technical domain certifications (e.g. CCNA, MCSE, RHCSA)
  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 10 years of related professional experience in a technical field. Demonstrated experience may be considered as a substituted for a bachelor’s degree.

Clearance Requirements:

  • Active DOD Secret clearance and ability to obtain agency suitability clearance

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain stationary up to 75% of the time in an office environment.
  • Must be able to traverse between one work location to another to accomplish work duties.
  • Must be able to operate IT equipment such as a computer, copier, fax machine, etc.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with management and co-workers to exchange information accurately.
  • Must be able to read, review and effectively respond to electronic as well as verbal communications.
  • This position supports an IT operations environment.  Candidates may need to support work on nights and weekends and may be included in an on-call rotation for after-hours support.
  • Currently, the contract work location requirement is to work in the office at the customer’s site once weekly at a minimum.  This is subject to change.

The projected compensation range for this position is $84,900-$141,100.
