What You’ll Do
Samsung’s San Jose Location Group was established in October 2012 to develop market-leading location technology for mobile applications. We have a team of about 70 people in the US driving our technology forward for future generation products. Our main activities include architecture definition, silicon design, software development, and platform integration. The Location Group is now part of Samsung’s Application Processor and Modem Group. We work closely together to develop highly integrated products, and to find opportunities to optimize our products for market success. The group is looking for a Location / Wireless Systems Engineer.
Location: Pasadena, CA
- Hybrid, working onsite at our headquarters 3 days per week, with the flexibility to work remotely the remainder of your time

- Design, develop/implement and enhance techniques to evaluate/characterize the impact of crystal oscillators on GNSS receiver performance metrics.
- Work with lab instruments such as signal generators, frequency counters and signal analyzers to design experiments and make observations.
- Enhance the capabilities of an existing GNSS SDR/post-processing platform
- Characterize and improve performance of GNSS product features using analysis and development of advanced algorithms
- Develop metrics and associated tools to help with identification and resolution of critical performance limitations/bottlenecks
- Develop tools and carry out analyses for the data processing and performance evaluation of Inertial Navigation Systems (INS) and their fusion with GNSS
- Contribute to the design and development of INS-GNSS based navigation systems.
- Complete other responsibilities as assigned.
What You Bring
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics or a related area
- Understanding of frequency analysis, phase noise analysis
- Familiarity with GNSS/Wireless communication receiver signal processing
- Familiarity with Inertial Navigation Unit (IMU) data processing and INS-GNSS fusion
- Good understanding of probability & random processes.
- Good programming skills in one of more of Matlab, C/C++ and Python.
- Strong signal processing, mathematical and analytical skills
- A self-motivated engineer with good task execution skills to deliver high quality output in a timely manner
- Good communication and documentation skills

Within the base pay range, individual rates depend on a number of factors—including the role’s function and location as well as the individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, education and training.
