Role Overview
The Business Administrator reports to the Public Works Director and assists in managing administrative, financial, and operational functions related to city infrastructure projects. You will coordinate grant-funded projects, support budgeting and billing, and serve as a liaison among city staff, contractors, and the public. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments to help deliver projects on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities

- Manage administrative tasks related to Public Works projects, including contract preparation, bid coordination, and record-keeping.
- Coordinate funding and compliance for Local Public Agency (LPA) infrastructure grants.
- Respond to public inquiries and provide customer service regarding Public Works initiatives.
- Assist in project budgeting, billing, and expense tracking in collaboration with the Business Analyst.
- Maintain accurate documentation and prepare reports for department leadership.
- Support daily departmental operations and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Associate’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- One year or more of related experience in administrative or office management roles.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with public infrastructure projects or local government.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access).
- Familiarity with Local Public Agency funding and grant compliance.
