Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly motivated Senior Staff Accountant to oversee daily financial transactions, maintain accurate records, and assist in preparing financial reports. This role plays a vital part in ensuring compliance with accounting standards, supporting month-end and year-end closings, and optimizing financial processes. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills and a keen eye for accuracy, contributing to the efficiency and integrity of our financial operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Transactions & Recordkeeping: Accurately record and manage daily financial transactions in QuickBooks Online (QBO) while ensuring compliance with accounting best practices.
- Accounts Payable & Receivable: Manage invoicing, payment processing, and reconciliation to maintain timely and accurate financial records.
- Vendor Management: Process vendor invoices, verify approvals, categorize expenses, and execute payments via checks, ACH, or wire transfers.
- Account Reconciliation: Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and other financial documents to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Financial Reporting & Analysis: Assist in the preparation of financial statements, budgets, and internal reports while analyzing data for discrepancies or improvements.
- Month-End & Year-End Closing: Support closing activities, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
- Fixed Asset & Depreciation Management: Maintain fixed asset schedules and assist with depreciation calculations.
- Compliance & Tax Support: Assist with 1099 preparation and contractor filings, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Process Improvement: Collaborate with the finance team to enhance operational efficiency and implement best practices.
- Audit & Special Projects: Provide support for audits and participate in ad-hoc financial projects or training of new team members and interns.
- Communication & Confidentiality: Maintain professional communication with vendors, customers, and internal teams while upholding financial confidentiality and ethical standards.
Requirements
Qualifications & SkillsRequired:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience, with proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
- Strong knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management to meet deadlines efficiently.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred:
- Experience in financial reporting and budget preparation.
- Familiarity with accounting automation tools such as SaaAnt, Bill.com, or Dext.
