Job Description

AECOM is seeking an experienced BIM CAD Modeler to work remotely or be based in Los Angeles, California for East San Fernando Valley Light Rail Transit project, with a focus on Systems – Electrical and Power Infrastructure discipline.

JOB INFORMATION:

While the position is primarily for East San Fernando Valley Light Rail Transit Project, AECOM has an impressive backlog of significant transportation projects in the Greater Los Angeles area and transit/rail projects across West Region and provides exceptional opportunity for professional growth. This position is based out of our Downtown Los Angeles office location and requires full time office presence through the design duration of the project, expected for 18 months.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Capability for REVIT modeling utilizing technical knowledge to design and model electrical infrastructure for systems engineering discipline – OCS, Systemwide Duct Bank, Traction Power, Train Control and Communications
  • Collaboratively work with various systems engineering sub-disciplines, understand their drawings and  lead CAD technician to implement BIM requirements.
  • Ensuring 100% BIM compliance on all projects. Take lead in enhancing the digital delivery within utilities team.
  • Collaboratively working with various other engineering disciplines such as Water, Power utilities, etc., participating in model coordination meetings, and aspiring to deliver high quality, clash free models.
  • Ensuring models are clash free, with internal and external parties.
  • Investigating model constructability issues and propose solutions.
  • Creating new library components for Systems Engineering, as needed.
  • Providing training and technical guidance to CAD technician and engineers in the use of the latest BIM tools.
  • Staying up to date with advancements in BIM technology and industry standards.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline + 10 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years experience in Revit, and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D, Navisworks, BIM 360 and Projectwise.
  • Understanding 2D systems drawings and creating 3D models.
  • Experience in preparing minimum Level of Development LOD 300 REVIT and exposure to AutoCAD drafting is required.
  • Experience in documentation (3D and 2D), general arrangement drawings and reinforcement drawings.
  • Experience in BIM management and exposure to CDE will be preferred as additional skills.
  • Understand BIM modeling principles.
  • An intimate knowledge of local standards and codes.
  • Be able to work within a disciplined engineering environment.
  • Working knowledge of Navisworks to be utilized for clash detection.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microstation.

  • Offered rate of compensation (California locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $106,800 to $197,580.
