Software Developer

Two Six Technologies builds products and tools that leverage open source intelligence, social media, and mobile platforms, enabling an information advantage in mission critical decision making. Two Six supports government policy makers, military operations, and Fortune 50 commercial customers.

We build unique data collection and delivery products that allow our users to operate effectively in the information environment. We solve hard problems related to data science, scalability, security, and reliability. We use the Elastic Stack, Python, Android, and Java and deploy on serverless Kubernetes infrastructure. Our software engineering team is fully remote and distributed. We are looking for someone who shares our passion for using technology to solve hard problems.

Responsibilities Include:

• Work with engineers and data analysts to develop tools and products to scale our capabilities
• Contribute to the team that has an in-demand product with a tech stack that is catching up
• Identify and address urgent bugs and develop high priority feature requests, while making progress on long term goals
• Automate complex processes in a robust and elegant way
• Evaluate and make recommendations on technologies and tools that will improve the usability, performance and reliability of our platform  
• Full-stack development in Python and Java services, and deployment on modern cloud infrastructure.
• Operating in a collaborative, agile environment, with a focus on taking action and working closely with peers to enable team success.
• Investigating complex data collection and delivery challenges across an evolving information landscape, and crafting innovative solutions.
• Creating proofs-of-concept and prototypes to quickly test ideas, as well as designing and building scalable, production-ready solutions.
• Considering security best practices at every phase of software development.
• Continuously learning and improving.
• Working within Scrum and Agile methodologies.
• Working in a fully remote team with a diverse set of skills and experiences.
• Solving problems and questioning assumptions.
• Reviewing code and performing manual and automated testing

Minimum Qualifications:

• 1-2 years of relevant experience in Python and Javascript
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or similar
• Experience with writing requests to APIs
• Experience with building web applicationExperience building server-side solutions in Python or Java
• Experience building and working with REST APIs using JSON
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in software engineering

• OkHttp HTTP client for REST APIs
• PostgreSQL and SQLite relational databases
• ElasticSearch and AWS DynamoDB NoSQL databases

Clearance/Citizenship:

• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance
