Located in Greater Boston, MassBay is a comprehensive, open-access community college, offering associate degrees and certificate programs on three campuses in Wellesley Hills, Framingham, and Ashland, Massachusetts.

 

Position Summary:

The ideal candidate will join a vibrant educational community and have a desire and ability to serve a population of students with various needs and backgrounds. This is a 37.5 hour per week position that provides mental health counseling services, consultation, support groups, and educational programming to students. This position emphasizes providing direct support to underserved student populations.

 

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Provide short-term culturally-informed clinical mental health assessment, treatment, crisis intervention, psychoeducation, and referrals for students;

  • Provide support to SUCCESS cohort students through counseling, support groups, and educational programming;

  • Act as a liaison for Counseling Services to the MassBay Student SUCCESS Initiative, attend regular program meetings, trainings, and retreats;

  • Consult and collaborate with the SUCCESS Initiative Manager on outreach, programming, and all non-confidential aspects of the program;

  • Provide consultation regarding the mental needs of cohort students and students with documented disabilities to the SUCCESS program staff;

  • Collect and report on counseling utilization statistics for the SUCCESS cohort;

  • Provide consultation to faculty and staff on student mental health needs;

  • Document confidential assessment and treatment notes in an electronic health record;

  • Attend and contribute to individual supervision meetings, team clinical meetings, divisional meetings, and group or peer supervision meetings;

  • Provide clinical office coverage and consultation to other staff and interns;

  • Consult and collaborate, as appropriate, with staff from the Academic Achievement Center, IT, Financial Aid, Enrollment Center, Admissions, Student Development, Academic and Transfer Advising, faculty, and Academic Deans to assist students in navigating and utilizing resources at the college;

  • Represent the department or the division for college-wide or community activities;

  • Other duties assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Counseling, Social Work, or Psychology;

  • Licensed or license-eligible to provide psychotherapy in Massachusetts.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Sensitivity and commitment to the goals of Affirmative Action;

  • Experience working in a community college or similar environment;

  • Demonstrated commitment to working with students in need;

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students with documented disabilities, English language learners, adult learners, and students who need support with college-level coursework.
