Senior Scientist – Biology Summary
The Biology Department is seeking a self-motivated, knowledgeable, and technically skilled researcher with expertise in the field of immunology or immuno-oncology who wishes to play a key role in advancing novel drug candidates from discovery into the clinic. Senior Scientists at Arcus work in a highly collaborative environment with colleagues across the organization.
Responsibilities The successful applicant will be expected to lead elements of Arcus’s programs providing in-depth knowledge, technical expertise, and insights necessary to advance drug development programs. These qualities will be utilized routinely to devise and implement a variety of in vivo and in vitro model systems to build an in-depth understanding of biological datasets for Arcus drug targets and drug candidates. Senior Scientists contribute both intellectually and experimentally as part of a multidisciplinary team, routinely collating and presenting data in both internal and external forums. Qualifications

- PhD with 2-5 years of relevant industry experience and basic knowledge of drug discovery. Strongly prefer 2+ years of postdoctoral experience also
- Intellectual and experimental proficiency in various aspects of immunology gained through demonstrated research experience documented in presentations and publications
- Practical experience using in vitro and in vivo tumor, autoimmune, and/or inflammation models
- Expertise in common immunological experimental techniques including isolation and culture of primary immune cells and tissues (mouse and human), multi-color flow cytometry, ELISA (or equivalent method), qPCR, western blot, and transfection methods
- Ability to identify, design, conduct, and interpret critical experiments necessary to advance programs
- Ability to focus and deliver on time-sensitive objectives
- Basic awareness of adjacent drug discovery activities (bioinformatics, biomarkers, screening) to facilitate cross-functional interactions and fully inform project goals
- Strong written and oral communication skills, capable of presenting to diverse audiences and summarizing information
- Experience authoring technical internal and external documents (posters, manuscripts, IND reports, investigator brochures)
