About The Department:
- The Surgical Services Department at Montrose Regional Health is committed to providing quality surgical services and improve the quality of life for our patients. We provide surgical services 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
About the Career:
- The registered nurse first assist assists the surgeon during a surgical procedure carrying out functions that will assist the surgeon in performing a safe operation. The non-physician first assistant practices under the direct supervision of the surgeon. Must demonstrate knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and other cognitive education with additional education in the use of surgical instruments on tissue versus the handling of instruments.
All About You:
- Education: Graduation from an accredited nursing program with Colorado State Board of Nursing licensure as a Registered Nurse. Must have completed an approved surgical first assistant program for registered nurses.
- Training & Experience: Certification in perioperative nursing (CNOR) is preferred. Active membership in professional perioperative nursing organization (AORN) recommended. BCLS certification required upon hire. ACLS recommended. Must have had experience in OB, Gynecology, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, ENT, Plastics, Dental, Urology, and general surgery cases.
- Job Knowledge: Knowledge of surgical instrumentation use, care, and cleaning. Ability to manage instruments in the variety of cases listed above.
