See NOTES below for future wage increases and/or additional compensation opportunities.Warehouse Manager positions supervise and coordinate the activities of several City storage facilities; supervise, train and evaluate the work of subordinates; maintain adequate stock levels; assist in preparation and execution of auctions; supervise the receiving, storing and shipping of surplus and salvage equipment and materials; plan the layout of materials at several storage facilities; assist in preparing budget estimates of needed equipment; resolve stock discrepancies and inquiries by contacting vendors and/or other City department personnel; write reports and correspondence; create and maintain standard operating procedures; maintain records; supervise adherence to safety rules and regulations pertaining to storeroom procedures, equipment, and handling of hazardous materials; may operate forklifts, pallet jacks and hand trucks; and perform other duties as assigned.
NOTES:
- Employees in job classifications represented by the Municipal Employees Association (MEA) are scheduled to receive the following general wage increases:
- 3.5% effective 7/1/27
- 2% effective 7/1/28
- 2% effective 1/1/29
- Eligible benefited employees originally hired on or after July 10, 2021, will be automatically enrolled in the San Diego City Employees Retirement System (SDCERS).
- Warehouse Manager employees may be required to work standby shifts for which they may receive an additional 5% in pay.
- Warehouse Manager employees may be required to work overtime.
Examples of duties
You must meet the following requirements on the date you apply, unless otherwise indicated.EXPERIENCE: You must meet ONE of the following options:
- Two years of full-time experience performing storeroom/warehouse operations as a PRIMARY responsibility, including the storage, maintenance, and ordering of materials, supplies, and equipment. Qualifying experience MUST include one year of full-time experience supervising personnel engaged in receiving, storing, and issuing materials, supplies and equipment.
- One year of full-time experience as a Storekeeper II with the City of San Diego.
- Qualifying experience MUST include computerized inventory control.
- City of San Diego employees using Out-of-Class Assignment (OCA) experience to qualify must submit written documentation signed by their appointing authority or payroll specialist, detailing the work performed, dates, and total number of qualifying OCA hours. OCA experience without the required documentation will NOT be considered.
HIGHLY DESIRABLE(S):
- Experience with computer software or related equipment pertaining to property and supply inventories.
- Knowledge of wastewater/water parts and supplies.
- For City of San Diego employees, proof of Out-of-Class Assignment (OCA), if utilized to meet the minimum requirements.
