Business Overview
Novanta’s Corporate and Shared Services teams play an important role in executing the company’s strategic mission and operations. Included in Corporate and Shared Services are the business functions including Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, Information Technology, Legal, Compliance, Corporate Development and Corporate Marketing. The Corporate and Shared Services teams work closely with all Novanta business units to support operating initiatives contributing to the organization’s financial success.
Summary
As the Accounting Continuous Improvement Leader, your roles and responsibilities focus on 4 main areas:
(1) Transform Processes
(2) Increase usage of digital tools
(3) Build career roadmaps
(4) Project Manage post-acquisition accounting integration to delivery on a strategic company priority.
This is a hybrid role with an expectation of at least 3 days per week in the Bedford office.
Primary Responsibilities
- Work with Accounting leadership to develop accounting transformation initiatives/projects that align with business goals.
- Build relationships with business partners and lead cross-functional teams to facilitate and conduct analysis sessions, including root cause analysis, to identify/pinpoint and rank key improvement areas, gather business requirements, map current state and future state process to ensure that operations are streamlined.
- Work with leadership to develop KPIs and measurement of each prioritized business process requires improvement
- Own annual review and update of internal accounting policies.
- Research new add-in technology solutions to reduce manual processes
- Change Management Oversight & Continuous Monitoring Manage post-acquisition accounting integration.
- Lead project to build experienced-based career pathing for accounting employees to provide clear pathways for employee advancement within the organization with digital mindset.
- Deliver and organize training to upskill the team not only related to accounting expertise but also digital/technology skills.
General Tasks
- Maintain strict compliance with the quality, environmental and occupational health and safety regulations and implementation of the instructions of the quality, environmental management and/or occupational health and safety officer.
Required Experience, Education, Skills, Training and Competencies
- Active CPA certification preferred
- Broad and deep functional experience, typically acquired through 8 to 12 years of relevant work experience
- 5 years of experience in an audit/assurance role at a Big 4 or comparable Public Accounting experience preferred
- Strong manufacturing accounting background is preferred
- Experience with multi-national publicly traded companies.
- Knowledge/experience of project management and process improvement
- Experience conducting process mapping and analysis to identify areas for improvement, perform root cause analysis and streamline workflows
- Knowledge/upskilling experience of digital tools (i.e., Alteryx, PowerBI, Tableau, UI path) and current technology (use of gen-AI) is a plus<
