Job Description
Specialty Travel Consultant
Join our dynamic team to oversee university corporate and deployed travel office operations. Serve as a trusted advisor to campus departments, expertly coordinating complex domestic and international group travel. Leverage advanced knowledge of international study programs, EFY, continuing education, and athletic team/individual travel to deliver exceptional service. Manage high-volume corporate travel demands and drive process improvements under the guidance of the corporate travel supervisor, while leading impactful travel office projects.
What you’ll do in this position:
- Strategic Planning & Events: Partner with university departments to design and implement event logistics, from large-scale functions to VIP travel, ensuring seamless execution.
- Travel & Logistics Management: Coordinate complex domestic and international itineraries, manage on-site operations (airports, hotels, catering, venues), and provide 24/7 emergency support.
- Contracts & Transactions: Negotiate with airlines, hotels, and venues; oversee refunds, exchanges, upgrades, waivers, and unused ticket management to optimize costs and compliance.
- Policy, Training & Engagement: Advise staff on travel authorizations, policies, and expense systems; deliver presentations, conduct campus visits, and strengthen stakeholder relationships.
- Auditing & Compliance: Review daily transactions, implement corrections, and ensure accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to university travel policies.
What qualifies you for this role:
Required:
- A firm commitment to the mission of BYU.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Travel & Tourism, Geography, or related field
- Two years of full-time experience OR the equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred:
- Two years of full-time experience in relationship management within travel or related field.
- Proficiency in leading initiatives and insuring accountability toward success.
- Advanced computer skills with demonstrated proficiency in the SABRE airline booking system.
- Broad knowledge of strategic sourcing, contract management, airline reservation systems, geography, and fare construction.

Pay Grade: 52
Typical Starting Pay: $63,500 - $82,500
