Our academic departments have each developed and sustained outstanding programs of research and training in a broad range of programs. These are further enhanced by interdisciplinary committees, centers, and institutes. Unique among our peers, our Pritzker School of Medicine and basic biological science programs are housed in one division, allowing for strong collaborations between basic science and clinical research. Faculty, staff, and students interact across programs and disciplines, creating collaborative and innovative approaches to the study of complex problems. As a member of the University of Chicago Physicians (UCP) leadership team , the position works closely with the executive leaders and financial professionals within the BSD, University, and Medical Center. It currently contains a total staff of 16 people.
Job Summary
The Sr. Director of Clinical Operations provides executive support to the UCP in oversight of the clinical practice. Works in close collaboration with the BSD Finance team, administrative leaders across the BSD, and others across the health systems in the support of clinical financial performance. Develops long and short-term plans to achieve clinical operational metrics, financial goals, business strategies/plans, and financial forecasts/models for service programs and initiatives. Works to meet annual operating budgets, revenue cycle performance, clinical productivity, and monthly reporting.
The position reports to the Chief Administrative Officer of UCP and lead initiatives to optimize resource utilization to achieve divisional strategic objectives.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with operations, revenue cycle, finance, clinical departments, UCM and other departments/units to support the enterprise strategies of enhancing operational and financial performance.
Lead initiatives to optimize and develop strategies and solutions to address clinical metrics and financial results improving performance across the health care system.
Maintain oversight of clinical operation metrics. Recommend and execute on strategies to positively impact performance.
Act as the administrative lead for various operational committees and workgroups partnering with BSD and UCM leaders.
Conduct requisite operational and financial analysis to support decision making related to physician, advanced practice provider and staff requests.
Partner with UCM leaders re: access initiatives including representing the BSD in TARGET meetings assisting with providing data on productivity and sessions.
Support monthly review and analysis of clinical performance relative to financial and productivity goals.
Build robust analytical models to analyze new/potential growth and strategic initiatives.
Oversee financial management and reporting systems to integrate productivity and other performance measures with financial metrics to continuously improve access and efficiency and achieve growth and financial performance targets.
Support BSD leadership during the annual budget planning process, helping to ensure the creation of accurate, realistic, and optimized fiscal year budgets.
Lead, mentor, train, develop, and recognize team performance contributing to growth opportunities and retention within team.
