General Notes

The Oden Institute is an organized research unit that fosters interdisciplinary programs in computational sciences and engineering, computational medicine, computational geosciences, mathematical modeling, applied mathematics, data science, software engineering, and computational visualization.

Purpose

We are seeking an Information Analyst to execute and manage experiments using established algorithms on the Parkinson’s Progression Markers Initiative (PPMI) dataset. This role is focused on the implementation and operational aspects of code execution rather than research and development. The successful candidate will play a key role in our efforts to advance early biomarker discovery for Parkinson's disease by analyzing and correlating data across imaging, clinical, and biological domains.

This is a temporary position from June 1, 2024 to August 15, 2024. The start date is flexible. Hours per Week: 20 (Part-time) or 40 (Full-time).

About Our Research: Parkinson's disease is a complex neurological disorder with symptoms ranging from motor impairments to cognitive changes. Our research focuses on enhancing early biomarker discovery through the analysis of various data types including clinical assessments, imaging studies, and biological markers. This includes work with T1 MRI to highlight anatomical structures, DaTSCAN for dopamine transporter intensity, and DTI for white matter diffusivity, among other techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Execute and monitor algorithms on extensive datasets.

  • Ensure the integrity and accuracy of experimental runs.

  • Document process adjustments and outcomes.

  • Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot and optimize code performance.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, or related field.

  • Experience in the use of an automated integrated business information system.

  • Proficiency in Python, specifically with PyTorch.

  • Ability to work independently and efficiently manage time.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with different data modalities within the PPMI dataset such as clinical data, biological data, and imaging data (T1 MRI, DaTSCAN, DTI).

  • Previous experience working with large datasets and computational frameworks.

Salary Range

$25.00 hourly
