The Senior Manager, Directories Engineering role is responsible for leading a global team of professionals who design and engineer TD's global workforce and application identity platforms. These platforms underpin the overall authentication framework supporting our colleagues, key platforms and systems in the enterprise.
This role owns ensuring TD's authentication systems are highly available and mission critical focused, spanning Microsoft Active Directory, Oracle Unified Directory, and related products in support of both Workforce Identity and Access Management (WIAM) and Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM) use cases. The Senior Manager works cross organization with partner teams in Enterprise Protect (security function alignment), Employee Enablement (endpoint experience, authentication management), and across the Infrastructure & Engineering organization to ensure services are designed with security, resiliency, and compliance with regulatory expectations in a globally systemically important banking (G-SIB) environment.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the Directory Services team in conjunction with cross-organization management of Directories Operations team, led by Infrastructure & Engineering Operations
- Drive engineering standardization for directory architectures across product families – delivering modern authentication platforms
- Contribute to enterprise identity strategy, including modernization initiatives, cloud optimization, and directory simplification efforts
- Optimize workforce authentication landscape, focusing on domain consolidation from a regionally focused multi-domain environment and forest consolidation
- Enrich relationships with technology partners and stakeholders as internal customers – co-developing authentication frameworks that enhance the colleague endpoint experience
- Design and partner with identity federation teams to collaborate on Entra ID (Azure AD) for SSO and MFA, supporting advanced authentication capabilities such as passwordless, adaptive, and device-based authentication goals
- Act as a trusted partner and liaison to application, infrastructure, and security owners alike in the authentication focus
- Provides advanced troubleshooting and escalation engagement for L4+ support
- Provides recommendations on value-added architectural improvements / enhancements
Depth & Scope:
- Responsible for managing multiple, broad and highly complex teams and/or projects which are diverse in scope
- Sets direction at an operational level, works autonomously in the management of the unit and collaborates with other business heads to establish and execute on common goals
- Directs/manages large-scale applications / systems / projects across multiple product lines / businesses, involving significant scope and complexity
- Directs/manages a large group (e.g., up to 50) of IT professionals
- Understands strategic direction (including financials) and champions alliances to benefit the Bank, advocates for operational improvements to enhance value to the organization
- Directs the development of resolutions, plans and strategies for operational advancement

Education & Experience:
- Undergraduate degree or Technical Certificate
- Graduate degree, preferred
- 10+ years relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Progressive experience in identity and access management, specifically in leadership and/or lead technical architect roles.
- Proven people management experience, including leading large scale change across geographically distributed teams.
- Strong knowledge of directory service frameworks, including Microsoft Active Directory and LDAP-based platforms
