The Impact you will have in this role:
 

We are seeking a FinOps Practitioner to lead cloud financial optimization across AWS, Azure, and Snowflake environments in a regulated financial services organization. This role bridges the gap between Finance, Engineering, and Cloud Operations, ensuring that cloud resources are aligned with business objectives and cost efficiency goals. 

The ideal candidate combines financial acumen, cloud platform expertise, and leadership capability to drive strategic cloud cost management initiatives, governance frameworks, and a culture of fiscal accountability.
 

Your Primary Responsibilities:
 

  • Lead FinOps practices to optimize and govern cloud spend across AWS, Azure, and Snowflake platforms.
  •  Develop and enforce cost allocation models, chargeback/showback frameworks, and tagging policies.
  • Establish governance standards for resource usage, pricing model adoption (e.g., Reserved Instances, Savings Plans), and Snowflake warehouse optimization.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of multi-cloud cost data to identify savings opportunities, waste, and efficiency improvements.
  • Implement rightsizing, instance scheduling, and reserved capacity recommendations.
  •  Partner with engineering teams to balance performance, resilience, and cost efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Finance and Business Unit leaders on budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis for cloud and data platform expenses.
  •  Build and maintain cloud spend models, demonstrating historical trends and business growth metrics.
  • Communicate cost performance insights to senior management through reports and dashboards.
  • Apply cost management tools (e.g., AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management, Snowflake Usage Views, CloudHealth, CloudAware or Cloudability) for continuous monitoring and reporting.
  • Serve as a liaison between Finance, Engineering, Architecture, and Product teams to foster cost-awareness and accountability.
  • Provide advisory support on architectural decisions with financial impact analysis.
  • Champion FinOps principles and procedures across the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 8 years of related experience
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience

Talents Needed for Success:

  • 5–8 years of experience in cloud cost management, cloud operations, or technology finance, ideally in financial services or a regulated industry.
  • Deep working knowledge of AWS, Azure, and Snowflake billing, pricing models, and optimization levers.
  • Experience managing multi-cloud cost reporting and governance frameworks.
    Strong understanding of FinOps principles, budgeting, forecasting, and cloud cost transparency practices.
  • Advanced Excel and data visualization skills (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, or QuickSight).
    Excellent communication and collaborator management skills with both technical and finance audiences.
  • FinOps Certified Practitioner or FinOps Certified Professional credential.
  • Familiarity with ITIL, Cloud Governance.
  • Experience with data platforms and Snowflake usage optimization.
  • Proficiency in scripting or SQL for custom cost analytics and automation.
