Job Description
The Sr Asset Management Specialist is responsible for the day to day management of Wellmark’s simple/non-complex hardware and software inventory repositories. Review appropriate contract and purchase records to build an overall software entitlement record. As needed, take steps to resolve outstanding concerns and update system records as required. Collaborate with appropriate members of the team as well as teams in Technology to discuss and implement any potential license reclamation efforts.
Qualifications
Required:
- Associate’s degree or direct and applicable work experience
- Minimum 1 year experience of technical exposure in one or more of the following:
- IT asset management, software licensing, help desk, servers, desktops, or software development
- Exposure to Procurement and Contract Administration procedures
- Demonstrated ability to translate technical specifications to non-technical documents
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and cultivate relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Ability to give and take feedback in a constructive manner, and to foster cooperation and collaboration across teams. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the capability to gather data and develop and effectively communicate solutions.
- Strong detail orientation
- Effective planning, time management, prioritization, and organization skills. Flexible and adaptable with changing priorities.
Preferred:
- Certified Hardware Asset Management Professional (CHAMP) International Association of Information Technology Asset Managers
- Certified Software Asset Manager (CSAM) International Association of Information Technology Asset Managers IAITAM
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or Business
- Prior experience in IT Asset Management
- Prior experience interpreting contracts
- Prior experience in a Citrix environment

Job Responsibilities
a. Responsible for the day to day management of processes and procedures relative to Wellmark’s simple/non-complex hardware and software inventory repositories. Will manage the manual creation and modification of records in the Software Asset Management (“SAM”) repository that are initiated through order forms, while ensuring accuracy and timeliness of data and assist in reporting to stakeholders.
b. Review appropriate contract and purchase records to build an overall software entitlement record and compare to demand data from appropriate sources to perform software audits looking for potential savings and compliance concerns.
c. As needed, take steps to resolve outstanding concerns and update system records as required. Collaborate with appropriate members of the team as well as teams in Technology to discuss and implement any potential license reclamation efforts.
d. Develop, maintain, and monitor methods to measure accuracy of the data feeds to the SAM repository. Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve inventory or database anomalies in conjunction with team members as well as members from the appropriate team(s) in Technology.
e. Research purchases made under financial accounts related to software and determine occurrences of purchases occurring outside of normal procurement procedures.
f. As needed, participate in invoice management activities, such as matching the appropriate purchasing documents and all discrepancies are resolved in a timely manner and communicating with appropriate stakeholders regarding concerns that may delay payment outside of the contracted timelines.
g. Assist with the hardware retirement procedures to ensure all appropriate documentation is maintained. Identify, research, and resolve any discrepancies with retirement vendor records and follow escalation procedures as documented to re
