This APRN is responsible for the coordination, implementation, oversight, and evaluation of the New Graduate RN Residency and the Medical Assistant (MA) Apprenticeship programs. The APRN plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of nursing and medical assistant practice by ensuring a smooth transition for program participants as they enter the workforce, equipping them with the skills and knowledge to transition from students to professional oncology practice.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and assess residency and apprenticeship programs, ensuring alignment with best practice, state requirements, and national standards
• Facilitate program orientation, education sessions, and mentorship for residents and apprentices
• Collaborate with educators, preceptors, managers, and other stakeholders to promote an evidence-based curriculum
• Recruit residents and apprentices and participate in candidate selection and placement
• Track progress of residents and apprentices, address needs, and connect with resources as appropriate
• Manage program documentation and reports
• Serve as a resource for nursing and medical assistant best practice through committees, project development, and work groups that align with the organization’s mission, goals, and values

Qualifications

Required:

• Master’s Degree in Nursing
• Current Washington State Registered Nurse (RN) license or multistate RN license.
• At least 2 years of direct patient care experience
• Uses knowledge of differential illness diagnoses and treatments in comprehensive, holistic assessments of patients within the context of disease and treatments – the outcome being a diagnosis of the etiologies of problems that require nursing interventions to prevent or alleviate symptoms, functional problems and complications.
• Design, implement and evaluate innovative individual and/or population-based programs of care to achieve targeted nursing-sensitive patient outcomes.
• Consults with staff regarding assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care. Serves as a role model and provides information and resources to cultivate staff skills and enhance nursing practice.
• Serves as a leader, consultant and change agent in advancing the practice of nursing among other nurses and across organizations.
• Contributes clinical expertise and nursing perspectives to decision-making processes through committees, project development and work groups that align with the organization’s mission, goals and values.
• Leads selected projects or programs with focus on fiscal responsibility, quality and patient safety.
• Develops collaborative inter-professional relationships and draws on these relationships to enhance clinical care and achieve positive outcomes.
• Interprets the multiple dimensions of nursing care that require system-level resources and provides leadership to ensure the system obtains needed resources.
