This role is ideal for a compassionate Dietician or Nutritionist who wants flexible hours while making a direct impact across residential and day program settings.


 Position Summary (Dietician | Nutritionist | IDD Services)


The Dietician / Nutritionist is responsible for ensuring that special diets are implemented as prescribed for individuals served, program menus align with healthy nutritional guidelines, and staff and individuals receive education on proper nutrition.

This role provides consultation, training, and oversight across all Our House, Inc. residences and programs, working closely with clinical and operational leadership to ensure compliance with agency and State of New Jersey standards.


Hours are worked as scheduled with the Director of Health Services, offering flexibility in days and times.

  • Part-Time: 16–24 hours per week

Requirements

The Dietician ensures prescribed special diets are followed, supports menu planning aligned with nutritional standards, and provides education and consultation to staff and individuals served. The role includes delivering healthy cooking classes and nutrition training within residential and day program settings.


Essential Functions

  • Train staff and individuals served on the correct implementation of prescribed special diets, including demonstrations and use of specialized equipment
  • Review and evaluate residential and program menus to ensure compliance with nutritional guidelines
  • Provide nutrition education, training, and resource materials to staff and individuals served
  • Conduct healthy cooking classes in residential and day program settings
  • Provide nutritional consultation to staff and individuals served
  • Ensure compliance with all agency policies and State of New Jersey standards
  • Report any problematic, potentially problematic, or non-compliant issues immediately to the Director of Residential Operations
  • Attend on-site and off-site trainings and conferences as assigned
  • Attend and participate in agency meetings
  • Cooperate fully with Our House, Inc., the New Jersey Department of Human Services, and the Division of Developmental Disabilities during inspections or investigations
  • Adhere to all PPE requirements as directed by CDC, OSHA, and state or local authorities (requirements subject to change)
  • Maintain a clean work area in accordance with agency and public health protocols

Secondary Functions

  • Attend and participate in all-agency staff meetings
  • Attend and participate in committee and management meetings as required
  • Assist with agency fundraising activities as requested
  • Serve on agency committees as assigned
  • Perform other duties as assigned


 

Qualifications

  • Must have a B.S. degree in Nutrition and a minimum of 1 year of work experience as a Dietician/Nutritionist. 
  • Experience working with people with developmental disabilities preferred 
  • Valid driver’s license with an insurable driving record and ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work
  • Ability to attend and successfully complete required paid training and maintain annual recertifications
  • Comfortable using computers and electronic systems for documentation, email communication, and data entry
  • Ability to provide professional references during the application process
