Job Description: 

PATIENT POPULATION:
The patient population served can be all patients, including geriatric, adult, and adolescent. This also includes services which affect facility staff, physicians, visitors, vendors and the general public.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the department Leader(s) and the Charge Nurse, the R.N. Oncology Nurse independently provides holistic, individualized care using the nursing process for patients routinely seen on the unit. The Clinic RN will assist in the coordination of care with physicians (both within the hospital and community) and staff to serve patients through education, care management, quality improvement and support programs. This position requires full understanding of oncology care and oncology disease management. Demonstrates an advanced level of clinical competency, nursing judgment, teaching skills, and a commitment to improving the quality of patient care. Independently performs general and unit-specific clinical skills. Contributes to the Sierra View Medical Center's Department of Cancer Treatment Services and the nursing profession in a positive manner.

Must be able to work normal/scheduled working hours to include Holidays, call-backs, weeknights, weekends, and on-call. Agrees to participate, as directed, in emergencies and community disasters during scheduled and unscheduled hours. As a designated disaster service worker you are required to assist in times of need pursuant to the California Emergency Services Act.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have and maintain current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of California. Current OCN or ONS Chemotherapy and Biotherapy card preferred. Must have and maintain current BLS Card, required.
