We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to develop and maintain the core data processing and reporting systems that power this platform. </p><p>As a core contributor to our Examsoft Insights team, you will play a key role in developing and enhancing the data processing and reporting systems that power our analytics platform.</p><p><strong>Responsibilities: </strong></p><ul><li>Design and implement scalable data pipelines for processing and transforming large volumes of exam data using Java, AWS Lambda, SQS, EventBridge and other AWS technologies.</li><li>Develop and optimize data storage and retrieval systems, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.</li><li>Implement monitoring and alerting for data processing systems to ensure reliability and performance.</li><li>Design / Implement RESTful APIs and event-driven systems.</li><li>Optimize existing services for near real-time performance and cost-efficiency.</li><li>Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Architects, Product Managers, and other engineering leads, to deliver innovative solutions.</li><li>Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines.</li><li>Ensure high-quality code through peer reviews, automated testing, and adherence to software development standards.</li><li>Create comprehensive documentation for the developed shared components, including usage guidelines and examples.</li></ul><h3>Qualifications</h3><p><strong>Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Knowledge/Experience:</strong></p><ul><li>8+ years of expertise in backend development, with proficiency in Java and experience with serverless frameworks (e.g., AWS Lambda, Google Cloud Functions).</li><li>Strong understanding of data modeling and experience with SQL (PostgreSQL)  and NoSQL databases (e.g., DynamoDB).</li><li>Ability to analyze data processing bottlenecks and identify performance improvements.</li><li>Proven ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and collaborate with stakeholders across various locations, including distributed teams based in Europe and the USA, to deliver impactful solutions.</li><li>Extensive experience with software development best practices (e.g. design patterns, test-driven development, code profiling, debugging).</li><li>Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues in agile environments.</li></ul><p><strong>Preferred Qualifications, Skills, and Knowledge/Experience:</strong></p><ul><li>Experience with CI/CD tools, including build, deployment and test automation.</li><li>Understanding or experience with AI/ML.</li><li>A passion for mentoring and developing the skills of junior engineers.</li></ul><h3>Additional Information</h3><p><strong>Total Rewards @ Turnitin</strong><br/> Turnitin maintains a Total Rewards package that is competitive within the local job market.
