Are you looking to expand your engineering related experience? Consider joining us here at Collins Aerospace, where we are seeking a Summer Intern to work collaboratively with talented cross-functional process engineering team to create a best-in-class automation process. We are crafting intelligent processes to meet the demand for the industry we serve across commercial, business, space, and military & defense aviation.

You will join our fun and fast-paced process development team. You have a passion for problem-solving, enjoy working with a creative and diverse group of people, and can take initiative to research and develop innovative processes!

This position is onsite, located in Coralville, IA.

What YOU Will Do:

• Manage small projects or processes within area of responsibility. Works with engineering team with limited oversight.
• Work to influence parties within and outside of work area at an operational level regarding policies, practices, and procedures.
• Plan the sequence of operations and procedures and documents manufacturing standard work and routings.
• Perform defect and failure analysis.
• Lead improvements in process yield, quality, cycle time, inventory accuracy and delivery
• Report all manufacturing and/or quality problems with parts, equipment, etc. to the Process support and quality team.
• No travel requirement

Expectations of the role:

• Learn to develop or improving current automation processes.
• Work with other engineers to ensure quality of product.
• Collaborate with production managers to understand operation needs.
• Document and communicate issues related to product or equipment.

• Innovation and Technology: Gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge surface mount technologies and SMT processes.
• Project Management: Master the art of the developing and managing detailed project plans, schedules and budgets and adepts them to meet goals.
• Process Analysis: Enhance your skills in performing critical process analysis and learn how to create work around to meet customer requirement.
• Cross-functional Coordination: Work closely with other engineers, project teams and production management.
• Problem-solving and performance monitoring: Identify product or equipment challenges such as relocating current product on different equipment or modify product for better performance.

Qualifications You Must Have:

• Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
• U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required

Qualifications We Prefer:

• Microsoft Office & SQL knowledge
• Course or training in C++
