Funding is expected to continue. This is a grant funded position with an end date of 8/31/24, renewable based upon availability of funding, work performance, and progress toward research goals.

Purpose

The Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at Dell Medical School seeks a Senior Financial Analyst to oversee finance operations for the Child & Adolescent Behavioral Health Division. This position requires a skilled and detail-oriented individual who will oversee financial analysis, reporting, transaction reconciliation, and processing for the Texas Child Mental Health program and other CABH Division initiatives. 

Responsibilities

  • Support the Finance Manager and Director of C&A Behavioral Health, manage records, spreadsheets, databases, and other resources to effectively document and monitor program revenue, expenditures, and fund sources to ensure spending is within budget. Prepare routine financial reports and presentations to inform senior leadership of the status and availability of funds. Review and reconcile detailed monthly departmental transaction reports. Prepare and present quarterly reports to Department leadership. Provide other ad hoc budget reports as needed. 

  • Conduct detailed financial analysis, including variance analysis, trend analysis, and forecasting. Review and analyze budget variances against plans and forecasts to aid senior leadership in programmatic and business decisions. Request budget/account transfers as appropriate.  

  • Assist in the development of annual department budgets and forecasts. Lead preparation of program and initiative budgets. Collaborate with stakeholders to review budget proposals and ensure alignment with organizational goals. Review budgets for completeness, accuracy, and rationality and suggest alternatives where appropriate. All other duties as assigned.  

  • Maintain costing allocations and collaborate with Department Position Management Group to complete updates to salary allocations as required for faculty and staff within the CAP Division and other CABH programs. 

  • Generate financial models to support strategic initiative and long-term planning. Assist in the development of forecasts by gathering and analyzing financial information.

  • Other related duties as assigned.  

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and at least five years of financial analysis experience. Or Master's degree and at least three years of financial analysis experience. Possess a broad and deep knowledge of accounting practices and systems, including Excel. Demonstrated ability to perform at a high level with little requirement for supervision. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with UT Austin financial systems including DEFINE, FRMS, Tableau, and UT Market. Experience with Smartsheet. Experience in higher education.  Experience in a healthcare or clinic setting. 

Salary Range

$60,000 + depending on qualifications

Working Conditions

  • Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.

  • Occasional weekend, overtime and evening work to meet deadlines.
