Position Overview:

• As a Core Design Thermal-Hydraulic Engineering Intern you will work with experienced engineers and designers to support the development of analytical models for the performance analysis of the nuclear reactor.

 

Location:

• The position will be located in Lynchburg, VA at the Advanced Technologies Office.

 

Your Day to Day as a Core Design Thermal-Hydraulic Engineering Intern:

• Collaborate with engineers and designers to develop analytical models for nuclear reactor thermal-hydraulic performance analysis and assess their operating characteristics using state-of-the-art analysis software.
• Work within a multi-disciplinary team to make design tradeoffs and decisions relating to thermal-hydraulic performance of a terrestrial or space based nuclear reactor system.

 

Required Qualifications:

• Must be a currently enrolled student, pursuing a degree in engineering or physics. 
• Must have a strong interest in thermal-hydraulic engineering.
• Must have completed introductory engineering classes, including thermodynamics/heat transfer, fluid mechanics, or those same topics covered in nuclear engineering courses.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with thermal-hydraulic analysis tools (MOOSE, Ansys or other) is a plus.

 Pay: $21.50 - $29.50

 

The starting hourly rate for this position in Virginia (US-VA)  at the start of employment is expected to be between $21.50  and $29.50  per hour.  The hourly rate offered is based on local job market factors and other objective business c
