Position Overview:

As part of the talented Brunswick Boat Group Technology Center team, you will be responsible for the compliance and certification of new and existing product to all applicable marine industry boat construction standards and internal best practices.

Essential Functions:

  • Review product safety/compliance requirements and ensure integration of those requirements to the product line.
  • Identify safety critical and compliance issues through the Product Audit Program and aid in their timely resolution
  • Report and track safety critical and compliance issues to ensure the effectiveness of corrective actions and their continued conformity
  • Ensure that all products are audited in a timely and efficient manner per the audit rates established for each boat model
  • Provide input of product audit findings to new model integration and ensure inspections are conducted on the first ten vessels that run through the manufacturing process
  • Routinely participate in plant wide inspections for overall assurance of policy acceptance. This may include travel to other locations within the company outside of the auditor’s immediate purview.
  • Maintain direct and frequent interface with other Brunswick Boat Group manufacturing facilities to ensure consistency with the guidelines of the program
  • Maintain information and stay current on all applicable global industry standards including but not limited to those established by the CFR/USCG, ABYC, EPA, CARB, ISO/CE, Transport Canada, and Australia
  • Process and submit applications to NMMA, IMCI, CARB, Transport Canada, and other applicable agencies for certification of all boat models annually
  • Regularly interface with the manufacturing and engineering groups and keep all parties up to date on changes to industry standards and regulation changes.
  • Track product safety/compliance non-conformities and ensure corrective action by plants.
  • Teach plant personnel product safety/compliance non-conformity recognition.
  • Build compliance books to document the compliance of all new product
  • Participate in engineering drawing reviews and provide feedback
  • Regularly review applicable data points such as service bulletins, past product audits, warranty info, consumer/dealer feedback, engineering change notice’s (ECN), corrective actions, vendor approval process etc. to enhance and improve the audit function.
  • Support manufacturing and customer service on issues resolution as needed
  • Coordinate vendor approvals of compliance critical items for all new product
  • Participate in water tests and sea trials as needed to perform compliance testing on new product
  • Maintain ABYC Membership and participate in the technical committees as a manufacturing representative
  • Coordinate and present technical training to production personnel on all necessary marine construction standards.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associates or bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical, or Quality) or related discipline preferred, or equivalent experience is required
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience at a boat production facility working with Marine Industry Regulations preferred
  • Previous experience interfacing with outside vendors
  • Experience performing quality audits
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Must interface well with other employees and departments throughout Brunswick Boat Group as well as outside vendors, dealers, and retail customers
  • Proven problem solving and decision-making abilities
  • Working knowledge of PC based software (Word, Excel, Microsoft Project, PowerPoint, AS400 etc.)
