Description
Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital (WRCH) operated by The Department of Mental Health (DMH) is seeking newly licensed Registered Nurses to fill numerous vacancies.
The selected candidate directs and participates in the nursing care of adult and geriatric patients on an inpatient unit following standards of care. Transcribes, administers and/or supervises administration of medication in accordance with standard practices and protocols. Maintains accurate records related to activities, meetings, groups, treatment plan schedules and all nursing assignments. Establishes and maintains a current nursing care plan and completes written assessment of nursing needs. Provides professional expertise and knowledge in carrying out emergency functions, all codes, and unexpected emergencies.
Please Note: These positions are for the following shifts, with every other weekend off:
1st Shift, 6:45 AM - 3:15 PM
2nd shift, 2:45 PM - 11:15 PM
- Treats all patients with dignity and respect through interactions which affirm the individual’s needs and preferences and by optimally integrating the patient perspective into all facets of care; will advocate for patients, facilitate timely resolution of patient concerns and assist patients in the exercise of their rights.
- Directs, supervises and provides nursing care in assigned area through shift reports, review of documentation in patients’ medical records, attending staff meetings and participating in treatment planning.
- Provides nursing care to patients by assessing health status, recording related health data, administering standard nursing treatment, evaluating patients’ conditions and adjusting care in conjunction with other providers.
- Establishes a plan of patient care through consultations with other staff and supervisors and through an analysis of data and symptoms.
- Admits, discharges and transfers patients; provides and coordinates health teaching to maintain optimum level of health and function.
- Responds to health and safety issues by initiating appropriate action; prepares and maintains pertinent documentation in accordance with regulatory and departmental standards.
- Assesses, identifies and evaluates changes in patient’s condition; documents and reports findings to appropriate health care personnel.
- Performs initial investigations of complaints of patients and others and reports findings in writing to immediate supervisor.
- Instructs ward or unit personnel in nursing techniques, procedures and equipment.
- Assesses overall functioning of nursing staff by insuring that job performance evaluations are done in accordance with both the hospital and nursing standards.
- Administer treatment and medications as prescribed by a physician according to established hospital procedures; maintain accurate medication records.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of nursing
- Understanding of the problems in providing nursing services to special client groups such as mentally, physically and or emotionally handicapped.
