About the role

 

Job Purpose:

Responsible for the reporting, investigation, and settlement of casualty (GL) claims and guest property claims such as valet and personal property losses. Interfaces and coordinates with Third Party Administrator, claims adjusters and defense counsel for all litigated claims. Tracks all risk management program costs for the property; plans, develops, implements, and trains employees on company safety programs. Oversees employee safety committees and safety awareness/promotion campaigns.  Ensures that the property is in full compliance with all local, state, and federal (OSHA) Occupational Safety and Health Administration codes and regulations. Conducts regular programmed safety inspections for the purpose of hazard identification and fire and life safety audits. Coordinates and aligns company risk management strategies with personal and property goals and objectives. 

Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Safety or related field with 3 or more years Health and Safety management experience
  • Must have extensive knowledge of OSHA industry safety standards. OSHA 30 required; Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrate the ability to problem solve and develop constructive relationships with others.
  • Demonstrate leadership abilities in directing, supervising, and motivating a diverse workforce.
  • Prior investigative experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Essential Job Functions:

  • Develop and implement a proactive robust safety management system that incorporates clear policies and procedures for planning and implementing OSHA compliance and risk assessment/control processes.
  • Establish measurement factors, monitor those factors, and review performance leading to continuous improvement.
  • Understand property objectives, standards, guidelines, and budget to achieve effective performance in position.
  • Coordinate the Safety Committee agenda meetings and activities, including safety audits, new equipment safety reviews, and safety training.
  • Recommend measures to ensure maximum employee and guest protection.
  • Develop and Manage Safety Training Programs and implementation of Safety Policies ensuring ongoing employee safety training in key topic areas.
  • Maintain records of all safety trainings conducted within the organization.
  • Develops realistic and measurable safety goals.
  • Report Workers Compensation Claims, Liability Claims, or other Compliance issues that arise.
  • Oversee all safety issues associated with equipment changes to ensure that all regulatory requirements are met that all safety issues are resolved prior to implementation.
  • Coordinate casualty claims (Work Comp, GL, Auto, Inn Keepers liability insurance, Garage Keepers liability insurance) processing including maintenance of all files, monitoring, auditing, and overseeing third-party administrative claims, reviewing, and approving reserve and reserve changes within their authority, pursue quick and efficient file closures and overall services to ensure that all claims are administered according to company policy and carrier requirements.
  • Liaise between claims adjusters and attorneys to provide information regarding claims, litigation, and settlement decisions.
  • Participate in litigation defense; including interrogatories, witness statements, and coordinating interviews with attorneys and property casino personnel, and other required information required by the courts.
  • Attend litigation hearings as a representative of the Property.
  • Maintain, analyze, and monitor workers’ compensation claims and costs; assure proper completion and distribution of all necessary paperwork for claims, maintain up to date information on the status of workers’ compensation; communicate with all involved parties to ensure effective and efficient administration of each claim.
  • Maintain loss history for all bodily injury and property damage claims.
  • Coordinate all vendors, leaseholders, subcontractors, and Taxi services to ensure their insurance is in accordance with company policy and that they have current Certificates of Insurance.
  • Develop and oversees property’s return to work program.
  • Interfaces with occupational health care providers
