Who We’re Looking For

Toyota Financial Services (TFS) Technology team is looking for a highly motivated person to fill a role as an API & AI Security, Manager.

We are seeking a strategic and technically skilled Manager of API & AI Security to lead our efforts in securing critical API infrastructure and AI/ML systems. This role will oversee a team of security engineers and analysts, working cross-functionally with development, DevOps, and data science teams to ensure secure design, implementation, and operation of APIs and AI-powered applications

What you’ll be doing

• Lead and manage a team of engineers focused on API and AI security initiatives.

• Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for securing APIs and AI/ML systems across the organization.

• Oversee the implementation of security controls for API gateways, authentication mechanisms, and data protection.

• Guide the secure development and deployment of AI/ML models, ensuring protection against adversarial threats, data leakage, and model misuse.

• Collaborate with engineering, product, and data teams to embed security into the software and AI development lifecycle.

• Conduct and oversee threat modeling, risk assessments, and security testing for APIs and AI systems.

• Define and enforce security policies, standards, and best practices related to API and AI security.

• Stay current with emerging threats, tools, and regulatory requirements in the API and AI security landscape.

• Report on security posture, risks, and incidents to senior leadership.

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field OR equivalent years of experience

• 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity, with at least 2 years in a leadership or management role.

• Deep understanding of API security principles, including OAuth2, JWT, rate limiting, and API gateway configuration.

• Experience with securing AI/ML systems, including model training, inference, and data pipelines.

• Familiarity with threats such as adversarial ML, model inversion, prompt injection, and data poisoning.

• Strong knowledge of security frameworks (e.g., OWASP API Security Top 10, NIST, MITRE ATT&CK).

• Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence across technical and non-technical teams.

Added bonus if you have  

• Experience with cloud-native API and AI security in AWS, Azure, or GCP.

• Hands-on experience with tools like Apigee, Kong, AWS API Gateway, Microsoft Counterfit, or IBM ART.

• Certifications such as:
