About the role

The intern will support the CDC Foundation’s Hunger, Nutrition and Health communications activities, including gathering and writing content for internal and external communications activities. The inter will also come into the office weekly to meet and discuss work.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Work 30 hours/week summer semester.
  • Be responsible for his or her assigned work schedule and report to the internship site at the agreed upon time(s).
  • Meet with the Internship Liaison on a weekly basis to discuss project progress and internship goals.
  • Follow the CDC Foundation policies and procedures regarding dress code and professional behavior.
  • Inform the Internship Liaison of any problems that might occur in a timely and reasonable manner, including concerns regarding the lack of substantive work assignments.
  • Supply relevant forms and evaluations to the Internship Liaison to be completed and follow up to ensure timely submission.

Primary Activities

  • Develop and write content such as blogs and stories showcasing interesting partnerships and success stories on the Impacthunger.org website and via newsletters.
  • Contribute content for internal and external email newsletters and updates.
  • Draft social media content.
  • Research content ideas.
  • Support expansion of the impacthunger.org website by recommending new content and ways of organizing information.
  • Support the development of an in-person statewide convening happening fall 2025 with activities such as agenda development, speaker outreach, communications and other duties.
  • Contribute to webinar design and implementation, if necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Necessary Skills

  • Coursework/experience in communications, public relations, marketing or journalism.
  • General experience with developing content for a variety of platforms, including digital and social media, including X, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn or TikTok.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to write engaging content for non-technical audience.
  • Ability to manage multiple requests and projects at once, with a commitment to meeting deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic knowledge of communications or digital platforms
