(USA) Staff, Data Engineer

What you'll do...

Risk Technology is one of the major segments of Walmart Global Tech’s Enterprise Business Services, which is invested in building Next Generation  Anti money laundering and Fraud interdiction systems. We are looking for a Staff Data Engineer to join our growing team of engineering experts who will be  responsible for designing, architecting, building, expanding and optimizing our data and data pipeline architecture including helping to build new  CDM  platform, as well as optimizing data flow and collection for cross functional teams. The right candidate will be excited by the prospect of re-designing our data architecture to support our next generation of products and data initiatives.

About Team: 
Our team creates reusable technologies to help with customer acquisition, onboarding, and empowering merchants, while ensuring a seamless experience for both of these stakeholders. We also optimize tariffs and assortment in accordance with Walmart's Everyday Low Cost philosophy. We not only create affordability, but we also deliver customized experiences for customers across all channels - in-store, mobile app, and websites. 

What you'll do:

• Develop high performance and scalable solutions that extract, transform, and load big data.

• Design, build, test and deploy cutting edge solutions at scale, impacting millions of customers worldwide to drive value from data at Walmart Scale .

• Support AML  Data applications ensuring Data Quality and Governance standards.Interact with Walmart engineering teams across geographies to leverage expertise and contribute to the technical community.

• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior data engineers. 

• Ensure data ingested and processed is accurate and of high quality by implementing data quality checks, data validation, and data cleaning processes

What you'll bring:

• Bachelor's/master’s degree in computer science or a related field 

• With 8+ years' experience in development of big data technologies/data pipelines  

• Expertise in big data technologies like Hadoop, Apache Spark (Scala preferred), Python, Apache Hive, or similar frameworks on the cloud (GCP preferred, AWS, Azure etc.) to build batch data pipelines with strong focus on optimization, SLA adherence and fault tolerance.   

• Expertise in building idempotent workflows using orchestrators like Airflow.   

• Expertise in writing SQL to analyze, optimize, profile data preferably in BigQuery or SPARK SQL  

• Strong data modeling skills are necessary for designing a schema that can accommodate the evolution of data sources and facilitate seamless data joins across various datasets.
