Job Summary
This position is responsible for developing recombinant protein and antibody research products in Molecular Cellular Biology group by using cutting-edge synthetic biological technology. The duties include gene cloning and expression vector design to implement gene-to-protein workflows to produce high-quality recombinant protein, including recombinant antibody for use as a research reagent. In addition, this position is responsible to establish needed capabilities & technologies to build a strong rabbit monoclonal antibody development & manufacturing platform. This position offers a significant opportunity for learning and leading synthetic biology field and career growth in biotechnology industry.
Essential Functions

- DNA cloning, vector construction and design, advanced molecular biology techniques, and optimizing gene expression constructs to promote desired gene expression characteristics (high expression, stoichiometry, chain ratio balance etc).
- Analyze and interpret data, maintain laboratory notebooks and database, and generate written reports.
- Act as a supervisor to the laboratory staff and work closely in a team environment, collaborating with various colleagues in recombinant protein/antibody product and technology development.
- Other projects or responsibilities as may be required.
Minimum Qualifications – Education and Experience
- PhD in Biological Sciences, Molecular Biology, Biochemical Engineering or related life science discipline with more than 6 years of relevant industrial experience
- 4 years of experience supervising Jr. technical staff
Preferred Qualifications – Education and Experience
- Previous hands on experience in recombinant, biological active protein expression construct design and evaluation using mammalian cells and E. Coli.
- Strong scientific understanding of recombinant protein & antibody expression, cell line and gene editing technologies as well as the ability to explore and develop new technologies and approaches.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude
