Seeking a new career challenge? Then Woolpert is seeking you! Woolpert is hiring a Director of Global Delivery and Risk to join our dynamic Buildings Sector. This position reports to the Sector Leader and is primarily responsible for managing discipline leaders (Architecture, Interiors, MEP Engineering, Site/Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Urbanism & Planning, Management Consulting, Project Management) to meet high performance financial and budget-based goals while maintaining the quality and timeliness of deliverables and improving employee satisfaction and effectiveness. This position is responsible for overall Discipline efficiency and the allocation of resources globally. Position can be hybrid in any of our Woolpert offices, or a remote opportunity is also available.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
As a Director of Global Deliver and Risk, you will:
- Assist Sector Leader and Director of Operations in identifying technology, equipment, and staffing needs for effective and efficient discipline operations.
- Ensures employees are properly fit for position and role by appropriately placing and ensuring continuous training and development.
- Mentors and coaches’ Discipline Leaders; oversees the Discipline management of project scope and budget based on appropriate salary-grades and design/technical capabilities of employees.
- Establishes employee performance goals, provides regular feedback, and works with employees to achieve individual and discipline goals.
- Conducts regularly scheduled Discipline meetings to discuss resources and technical issues, and to ensure teamwork within and between practice areas and service lines, as necessary.
- Maintains resource allocation tool to determine appropriate employee assignments and make workload decisions regarding hiring and terminations in coordination with the Sector Leader and Director of Operations.
- Maintains a proactive quality control and quality assurance plan for each discipline.
- Assigns scopes of services, schedules, and budgets to Disciplines Leaders, and ensures completeness, timeliness, and quality of deliverables within budget.
- Assists Discipline Leaders and project directors/managers, during the proposal phase, by helping them determine staffing, budgets, and schedules for proposed scopes of services; assists in negotiation of contracts as needed.
- Assigns tasks from project plan to team leaders, including scope, budget, and schedule, for execution and ensures team leader understanding of deliverable standards.
- Provides technical assistance and support Discipline Leaders as needed.
- Makes sure both Design and Technical leads are assigned to every project to ensure projects meet standards.
- On occasion, the Director of Global Delivery may assume the role of program director, business developer, project manager, design lead, or technical lead depending on individual skill sets and passion.
- Participates in professional, civic, and business events to establish and enhance Woolpert presence.
- Communicates and coordinates with practice leaders, project managers and other disciplines / sectors to enhance sales and cross-sell Woolpert services.
- Uses their network to support business development opportunities.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum 15 years of leadership experience within the Buildings AEC Industry overseeing at least 250+ A/E staff (managing a global staff is a plus).
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture or related field; additional degree in business a plus.
- Professional state Registration(s) in either Architecture or Engineering a plus.
- Strategic thinker who can connect vision and strategy to tactical execution.
- Strong presence and leadership skills with proven experience in building and managing cross-functional teams.
- Strong organization development skills with confidence to develop and delegate.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, build and hold teams accountable, and achieve results.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, engage and build trust with clients and staff.
- Strong market knowledge with financial, analytical, and business acumen.
- Must be a proactive self-starter with a record of accomplishment in making good decisions.
