Description: 

Wave Life Sciences seeks a Senior Director, Corporate Communications to join a growing RNA medicines company with a broad clinical and preclinical pipeline, as well as a novel and best-in-class discovery and drug development platform. The Senior Director, Corporate Communications will report to the VP of Investor Relations and Corporate Affairs, and lead the planning and initiation of internal and external communications to engage global and expanding internal teams, media and community partners. This role is highly visible and works closely with senior leadership, as well as groups throughout the enterprise including patient advocacy, clinical development, discovery, new product planning and commercial, medical affairs and finance. This role will also manage content strategy across Wave’s digital and social channels, as well as strategic thought leadership opportunities, to increase stakeholder awareness of Wave’s corporate story, its pipeline programs, and differentiated oligonucleotide drug development platform. The ideal candidate is highly collaborative, has experience with biotech and proven ability to drive effective communications.

Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) required in communications, PR or related field
  • 10+ years of communications experience, preferably in corporate communications, public relations, or marketing within the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry
  • Experience planning, launching, and spearheading internal and external communication programs
  • Experience with media relations, overseeing outside agencies to enhance productivity and ROI, and overseeing corporate website and intranet
  • Experience overcoming intricate/scientific subject matter and communicate to a variety of stakeholder audiences. Experience in RNA medicines/oligonucleotides (including splicing, RNAi, antisense, editing) a plus
  • Familiarity with appropriate regulatory and legal requirements

Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive corporate and pipeline communications strategy (including content creation, media relations, cross-functional collaboration, executive and internal communications) that aligns with the company’s vision, values, and corporate goals. Ensure consistency and clarity across both internal and external communications, while collaborating closely with the investor relations team
  • Write and produce high-quality content for various corporate materials, including press releases, key message documents, Q&As, digital content, annual reports, and executive communications. Maintain corporate news flow calendar
  • Work with the new product planning / commercial, patient advocacy, and medical teams to provide perspectives on corporate communications goals and opportunities in planning for commercialization
  • Cultivate relationships with key media outlets, journalists, and industry influencers to secure media coverage and promote the company’s achievements. Respond to media inquiries and ensure timely and accurate responses
  • Shape and implement the Company’s social and digital media strategy, including oversight of a direct report
  • Develop and implement effective internal communications strategies to keep employees informed and engaged with company developments, milestones, and leadership updates. Closely partner with HR team on employee engagement plans and foster a positive internal culture through transparent and consistent communication.
  • Be a steward of the Wave brand, helping adhere to guidelines related to logo ad design, in addition to communications and executing an internal messaging strategy
  • Manage agency partners; support crisis communications and issues management, when needed
