This is a grant funded position with an end date of 8/31/2025 renewable based on availability of funding and work performance. Funding is expected to continue.

Purpose

The Amplify Licensed Therapist will serve as a key member of a multidisciplinary team in an innovative, pilot mental health clinic that is focused on improving mental health services for young adults. This clinic is being built out of an exciting partnership between Austin Community College and the University of Texas Dell Medical School. The Amplify Licensed Therapist will have the opportunity to contribute to and build this first-of-its-kind clinic in Texas and will coordinate care with primary care and social services providers in partnership with other community organizations.

Activities include mental health needs assessment, crisis intervention, treatment planning, and provision of evidence-based mental health therapy. Therapy is based on cognitive behavioral treatment principles, motivational interviewing, person-centered care, and young adult best practices. These services are aimed at changing the trajectory of mental health needs for young people.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group mental health therapy to young adults experiencing mild to moderate mental health needs. Therapy provision is based on cognitive-behavioral treatment principles and motivational interviewing, as well as best practices for young adults. Assist young adult clients by (1) sharing information and education on mental health conditions, (2) helping clients build coping strategies, psychological skills, and ways to improve their daily function and quality of life, and (3) helping clients to identify and achieve life goals.

• Perform mental health assessments with young adults, assess for social and mental health needs; assess for risk of suicide.

• Participate in screening, tracking, and reporting of young adult goals, needs, and outcomes. Maintain current, accurate, and timely clinical documentation in accordance with law, ethics, and Amplify and UTHA policies. 

• Work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team and provide discipline-specific knowledge around mental health and innovative ways to approach social and emotional needs of young adults.

• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Counseling, Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or Social Work or other degree which meets eligibility requirement in Texas for licensure. Hold full clinical licensure (i.e., LCSW, LPC) in the state of Texas. Minimum of three (3) years post-degree clinical experience with at least one (1) years of clinical experience working with young adults. Ability to exercise resourcefulness and good judgment. Ability to manage multiple streams of work. Exceptional interpersonal communication skills; written and communication skills; organizational, planning, follow-up/follow-through, and time management skills.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Bilingual in English and Spanish. Experience working with young adults from underserved populations (e.g., individuals experiencing homelessness, with criminal justice involvement; people with disabilities and/or mental illness). Experience working with or within various systems (e.g., mental health, school, criminal justice, etc.). Knowledge of mental health diagnoses, predictors and indicators of mental health challenges (especially in young adulthood), best practices in serving young adults with mental health needs. Experience with the provision of diagnostic tools and assessments. Understanding of equity, root causes of health disparities, and social determinants of health.

Salary Range

$65,000+ depending on qualifications
