Job Summary

The YMCA of Memphis & the Mid-South is seeking a dedicated YPlay Site Lead to provide quality child care and support for children aged 6 weeks to 12 years. This part-time position is perfect for individuals passionate about child development and creating positive experiences for young people. The role includes supervising on-site staff, ensuring program implementation, and fostering a nurturing, engaging, and safe environment. The Site Lead promotes the YMCA’s core values of respect, responsibility, honesty, and caring, creating a welcoming experience for all participants and their families.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide supervised, safe, and nurturing care for children in the YPlay program
  • Implement curriculum and enrichment activities as designated by the Director of YPlay
  • Supervise and support YPlay Center Attendants
  • Maintain program site, equipment, and ensure cleanliness
  • Communicate effectively with parents, children, and team members
  • Follow and enforce YMCA policies and procedures
  • Assist in training new employees and attending team meetings

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with diverse populations and children.
  • Minimum age requirement: 21 years.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends; ability to
  • work split shifts preferred.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with parents, children,
  • and team members.
  • Competence in training staff on technology systems (e.g., Alaris & UPace) 

Required certifications prior to the first shift:

New Hire Orientation and Child Abuse Prevention training

Willingness to obtain CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications within 30 days of hire


Work Schedule:

Part-time schedules vary based on YMCA hours of operations 

  • Monday - Friday: 5:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
  • Saturday: 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
  • Sunday: 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Work Environment:

  • Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for extended periods.
  • Exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.
  • Must be able to lift or assist children weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Position involves bending, kneeling, lifting, and walking in indoor and outdoor
  • environments.
