Additional hours will be required to include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. This job is not suitable for remote work and is expected to work regular on-site hours.  Travel may be required.

Purpose

The purpose of the Assistant Director, Broadcasting is to support live operations at Texas Athletics. This position will assist in the coordination and execution of the athletic departments live production operations for ESPN and SEC Network broadcast, ensuring the department’s overall product meet and exceed industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Serves as the lead producer and is responsible for the pre-production planning, video production, and post production editing of video pieces used on the SECN+ Digital and SECN Linear networks.

• Assists in the supervision of student, temporary employees and professional service contractors, including recruitment, development, and mentorship of students. This includes on-air announcer employees that work in control rooms, and employees that work on-site in venues.

• As event day network producer, coordinates all aspects of an SEC production, which includes but is not limited to replay operators, on-air talent,  graphics producers, event management, media relations, and time-out coordinator(TOC). If needed, will work other positions, i.e. camera operator, replay operator, etc..

• Utilize Ross Xpression Graphics software for graphics creation, routine maintenance, and execution of graphics for SECN+ and Digital Events.

• Ensures all broadcast and quality standards set by The University of Texas, the SEC, and external stakeholders are maintained.

• Collaborates with third-party vendors and clients, external entities (ESPN), and multiple Texas Athletics departments that include but are not limited to ticketing, media relations, Longhorn Sports Properties (LSP) and event management to ensure all operational needs for broadcasts and videoboard shows are met.  

• Establishes and updates employee operational guidelines. This includes, but is not limited to, safety standards, dress code, timelines, best practices, etc. Drive UT or rental vehicle on and off campus.

• Consistently exemplify the core values and quality service standards of Texas Athletics. Always act ethically. Proactively seek guidance when unsure or unclear of a law, rule or policy applicable to you or your department/sport program. Actively participate in assigned education and training programs. Comply with all laws, policies, rules and regulations set forth by the Board of Regents of The University of Texas System, The University of Texas at Austin, NCAA, Conference, or other governing body, including state and federal laws. Annually obtain prior written approval and report all outside activities and outside income. Report knowledge of, or reasonable cause to believe, violation(s) of state or federal laws, policies, rules, or regulations of the University, Conference, or NCAA to IA ARMCS or IA HR. Fully cooperate with any investigation by providing complete and accurate information when requested to do so by Texas Athletics and/or the NCAA and do not influence others in any way during an investigation.
