About the role

Aethon Energy Operating LLC (“Aethon”) Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing of payroll and ensuring that payrolls are accurate and timely. This position will also assist with report preparation, handling payroll discrepancies, reconciling taxes and other liabilities as needed.

This role will be based on our Dallas, Texas Corporate Office.

Requirements

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  •  Accurately process bi-weekly payrolls for all employees, including calculating wages, deductions, adjustments, and ensuring compliance with Federal and State laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Reconcile payroll-related general ledger and prepares reports or statements summarizing payroll-related accounts.
  • Works closely with HR and providers on various matters to ensure the accuracy of payroll information.
  • Research payroll, tax, benefit deductions and garnishment related inquiries and take appropriate action to resolve any issues or discrepancies.
  • Send reminders to management teams to ensure time is entered and approved at the end of each payroll period.
  • Review and verify timecards are submitted correctly, working with employees and managers to resolve issues.
  • Assist with year-end payroll processing duties to ensure accurate and timely W2s and 1095-C’s.
  • Reconcile all monthly benefits invoices to ensure billing accuracy and verify employee benefit elections and deductions are correct.
  • Assists in the open benefit enrollment process
  • Assists in the coordination of benefits fairs and other events
  • Research resolve and respond to benefits related issues in a timely and accurate manner
  • Manages compliance testing for health and 401k plans
  • Verify the calculation of monthly premium statements for all insurance policies.
  • Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
  • Identifies and recommends updates to payroll software, systems, and procedures.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field preferred but not required.
  • 5+ years of experience in payroll processing and administration, preferably in a multi-state environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of benefits and HRIS systems
  • Knowledge of payroll laws, regulations, and compliance requirements at the federal, state, and local levels.
  • Experience partnering with human resources on benefits and 401K.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive information.

 

SKILLS:

  • Experience processing payroll in HCM systems such as: ADP, Workday
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to interface with teammates and managers.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or products including intermediate Excel skills (vlookup, pivot tables, control totals, etc.).
